Re: The Cowboy From Christmas Past (4:42pm October 31, 2009):

WOW that part about weining your son off What's for dinner struck a cord since I grew up in a household where the whole what's for dinner happened every day and my mother worked 5 days a week and still cooked. Parents did not want me worrying about food just grades and my dad worked construction and my mother did not want to burden him with cooking so she did it all. I however think I will be weining my kids though only 3 cause my mom has paid alot to make sure we had dinner every night even on nights when I could have done without.

Love the column in general. Nice getting into your head.

Re: Red Hot Lies (2:17pm August 30, 2009):

Sandi I love your column you come up with some of the best topics and I have used a few in my own book club to drum up conversation. Now on to the question.

It does not matter to me one way or the other as long as the story is good. In the end it's all about the story not the writing style. I have read books written in the first person that were absolutely fabulous. As a matter of fact now that I think about it the book I just started is written in the first person and so far the book is entertaining. If I had not read your column I would not have even noticed.

Author have told me it is harder to write in the first person so maybe the sign of a good writer is one that can write in the first person and the reader only focues on the story.

Re: The Fixer Upper (3:01pm August 23, 2009):

I personally believe you can have empty literary calories in any and every genre be it fiction or non fiction. It's more about the quality of what you are reading. Romance is meant to entertain and if it does this with quality writing then those are some very useful calories.

Re: The Promise (12:05pm April 19, 2009):

Great Question. I can't remember learning how to read except I am pretty sure it happened in daycare since I was in daycare since I was about 3 years old. I do remember when I became an avid reader and that was later in life. I was in my early 20s and a friend gave me my first Julie Garwood historical romance. I was hooked from then on. From there I started to explore other authors and genres but historical romance still continues to be one of my first loves.
