Sandi, Congrats on the new puppy. She is a cutie! Last night I groaned as I placed five more keepers on my overstuffed book shelves. I have more than run out of room. I need to buy another bookshelf case, as I rarely cull through my keepers. I keep books that are must reads or must reads again, books that moved me in some way or another. I keep all of my nonfiction and religious themed books. Even though I have cut back on buying I still manage to collect books. I now have books stacked on the floor, which is something I have never done before. After Christmas I am going to buy myself a nice bookshelf and clean this book mess up once and for all..at least until I run out of room again.
I tend to keep books that I really like and may become a re-read. I also keep all my nonfiction books unless I really dislike the authors view.I re-read to enjoy the characters I may have grown attached to or because the story really gripped me. Sometimes if a book moves me I will re-reaad just to see if it has the same impact. The book I re-read the most was Stephen King's The Stand. I have read it four times, or Maybe it is Gone with the Wind, I forgot how many times read it, but each time I do I am hopeful the outcome will be different:)
Sandi, I think this is a common problem with us serial readers. We tend to get excited over new book before we are done with our current read.I am in school so my text reading comes first, then promised review books. Sometimes by the time I get to a pleasure book the urge to read it has passed. I have in the past, put down a current read in order to read something that grabbed my attention.
Great question! Usually it is a non-fiction person I really connect to and wish I knew. As for fiction, I think it might be fun to be Stephanie Plum's friend. She has the hottest guys hanging around her, a very funny family and hey her job is never dull!
