YOU'LL BE SORRY

Thriller Police Procedural

Typical Lisa Gardner wit and sarcasm. Love it. I can’t think of any other author of crime novels who could have me smiling and possibly laughing aloud while conveying the story about a missing family of six. And let’s not forget the dog named Dog.

YOU’LL BE SORRY is the next best tale by this literary giant, in my opinion. Candidly, I feel that way each time I open a new book by this very prolific author. A whole new cast of characters to meet. Mysterious clues everywhere and yet nowhere, just like the Dixon family. In one word, awesome. So thanks again to Lisa Gardner for another adventure penned by her unparalleled imagination.

So a Bed and Breakfast that’s going to be standing in the last place where the Dixons were seen so many years ago.

Mandy Grady is now Chief Grady, stepping into her father’s huge shoes. In her initial meeting with the couple having the Dixon home renovated, Mandy is extremely cautious in answering the myriad questions. Her final retort is Lisa Gardner to a T. So the Dixons were probably dead. Possibly murdered by a local? Welcome to the neighborhood. What can I say? Welcome to Lisa Gardner, and YOU’LL BE SORRY.

Remember these words – appearances can be deceiving. Put on your best detective hat and jump right into a storyline that’s designed to confuse and challenge. Meet Raquel and Theo, the new owners of that house. On the surface, they are performing an excellent fixer-upper on the neighborhood eyesore and gossip piece. Never judge a book by its cover holds especially true with Lisa Gardner's stories. Research the word epigenetics.

Sometimes, local legends were something else. Never as true as in YOU’LL BE SORRY. Ding dong bell, the witch is in the well. On now, who nowadays believes in witches, much less witchcraft? But in this little hamlet of sorts filled with the most intriguing characters, this belief seems to be alive and well. Well, maybe not so much well as in a well. Lisa Gardner upped the ante on fabulous in YOU’LL BE SORRY. Sit down in a comfy chair and get ready for a marathon read.

SUMMARY

For Raquel and Theo Collins, it appeared to be love at first sight. Raquel, a renowned interior designer, and Theo, a brash financial wizard met and married in a matter of months, only to confront a terrible tragedy. Now, unbearably aware of the distance between them, they’ve come to a remote town in New Hampshire to begin anew.

Perched on a ledge with stunning views, the Dixon’s family lodge was once a crown jewel of the mountains. Until late one August night, when both parents and their four children vanished, leaving behind a trail of bloody footprints, and a mystery that has endured for thirty years. Now, its latest occupants, the Collinses, are arriving, and the former grand lodge is once more stirring to life.

For Amanda Grady, following in her father’s footsteps as the recently appointed Shereford police chief, it’s good to see a fresh start for the derelict Dixon place. However, not everyone is happy about a new family in the old home and its hidden past may have returned with a vengeance.

When a stray dog leads to the discovery of a skeleton on the property, Raquel and Theo face a daunting choice of what to believe, who to trust, and how to survive. Because in the tiny village of Shereford the time has come. The local residents, the new neighbors, and the fledgling police chief must work together to unravel the terrifying events that happened one night thirty years ago, or…

You’ll be sorry.
