In WHEN I FIRST MET YOU, Glory McCallahan made a move to Hoker, Kentucky to be closer to her cousin Callie who had always been more like a sister and very best friend. Then a wonderful thing happened to Callie, she fell in love and Glory helped prepare the perfect wedding. Though she knows this will mean a big change to her life.
Kam Norwood is the grooms younger brother and he at first believes Glory is snooty, too polished, to fit into the small-town life he had grown up in. But something about her makes him keep being drawn to her. When he sees she is being bothered by a wedding guest he steps in. Turns out the man is an ex and Kam moves in to protect her from the angry stalker and the sparks they didn’t expect begin to fly.
Only author Lori Foster can bring sweet, dangerous, small towns and big troubles to such life that you cannot put it down. Sleep is overrated when it comes to WHEN I FIRST MET YOU as you move through this emotional read.
There are a number of funny, friendly and some not so nice characters that fill the town and make you want to find that place and visit. Of course, you must add in Peanut Butter (PB) a four-legged addition to the family who sounds just adorable.
WHEN I FIRST MET YOU is the second in the Hoker, Kentucky series that follows LE ME BE THE ONE, which was Callie and Tanner's book. Glory appears to be self-assured polished woman, but the truth is she has many insecurities especially in thinking that she isn’t good enough no matter how hard she tries. (We get an early taste of why that might be as her aunt, in a bless your heart way, complains about her appearance though she was working to make sure everything is going well with the wedding.) Kam is a typical younger brother who had written Glory off but found himself drawn to her. The rescue at the wedding leads him to really get to know and, yes, learn to love the woman that not everyone sees.
If you are looking for a love story that lets you watch a couple find their way to each other while healing from past hurts and learning trust then Glory and Kam will do that for you. WHEN I FIRST MET YOU is a fantastic summer and really an anytime you need a warm and sweet read!
