I must start this review with a ‘warning’. Be prepared for a very emotional ride as our favorite Archangel Raphael and his Guild Hunter angel Elena face her becoming a thousand years old in ARCHANGEL’S ETERNITY. This, the 18th book, is also the finale of the Guild Hunter series – though author Nalini Singh has told her fans she is not against a short story or two in the future. It has been written that this is a love letter for Ms. Singh's fans, and it does feel like we are getting a well done wrap up and thank you from her.

As Elena and Raphael grapple with their own feelings as they face a personal parasitic surprise – later named Phoenix. This news sends them both into dreams and worries about their pasts and the fears that they will be a danger to this surprise.

We also get to look at the future without many of the people that were such a big part of Elena and Raphael’s world as the mortal lives end, breaking Elena’s heart each time. She wonders how it had been possible for Ilium to survive the loss of the people that he loved so many times.

ARCHANGEL’S ETERNITY is an amazing read. The book will fill the fans of this series with a lot of varied emotions. Aside from the tears that threaten to fall, there is also laughter as we watch this couple go through the emotions of dealing with an angel child and knowing how strong these two are – he rules his world with an iron fist, and she hunts rogue vampires without a second thought – the various situations they find themselves in will give quite a few uplifting moments.

As in all the books of this series, this one deals with various angel drama, including the danger of insanity that the older angels must face, and the return of the Legion (this group we finally learn more about their existence). The touching moments include remembering those who are no longer a part of this world, but are always in Elena’s memories, meeting again the angels of the past (some of those who were injured in the last war return and just might surprise you), and saying goodbye to beings that are ready to go back to their much-deserved sleep. Illium and his father get into a bit of an angelic shouting match that ends with a look at the Archangel father, and just might allow a bit of sympathy to go his way.

As you can see, ARCHANGEL’S ETERNITY is chock full of emotion, surprises, and a look at Ms. Singh’s idea of what the future will look like as we say farewell to an amazing series. The things I mention in this book barely scratch the surface of what you will find as you read.

This is one of the ones I have read and reread many times, and always found them all entertaining, delightful reads and ARCHANGEL’S ETERNITY will be no exception to that rule.
