With the help of her friend Vivien and her assistant Lina, the event promises to be a smashing success, but when Conrad Phlume, the man donating the building to Pom’s charity, gives a strange speech and then later falls to his death, Pom knows she will have to don her stylish investigator’s hat and weed through the suspects, including her own family members.

It’s a fun, fast-paced, stylish rom-com mystery and Pom is still a little oblivious, but she’s on the right path. The suspects are plenty, including Pom’s dysfunctional family, her best friend, the victim’s wife, and other city developers. Clues are peppered throughout, and Pom faces some threatening scenarios, such as being cornered in a brownstone, mean posts, and a gun to her back. The romance between Pom and Gabe is tricky as well. Gabe doesn’t quite fit into Pom’s world. Can they find a compromise? The writing is witty and engaging, and there is never a dull moment in Pom’s life, whether she’s solving a mystery, attending a glamorous event, or finding her happily ever after with Gabe.
