Kate Drake is one of the seven Drake sisters who share amazing powers that some would call witchcraft. She calls it her normal life. She is a best-selling author and while visiting home, she decides it is time to settle down a bit and plans to open a bookstore. She finds the old historic mill a charming site. She wonders if it can be ready before the annual pageant, or maybe THE TWILIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS will be soon enough. Former highly decorated Army Ranger Matt Granite and a local contractor is all for working on the old mill. It brings him closer to Kate. He knows she is considered the quiet sister, but there is something about her that draws him and has for years. Unfortunately, all plans are put on hold when an earthquake damages the foundation and opens a burial site. Kate feels the evil emanating from the crypt and knows that if they don’t act fast, the whole town will be in danger. THE TWILIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a re-release of Christine Feehan’s second in the Drake Sisters series. This is the story of the fictional bestselling author Kate Drake and former Army ranger Matt Granite. Despite the danger and eerie happenings that take all the sisters and most of the townsfolk to defeat the evil trying to destroy the pageant and the town, there is a lot of warmth and love. This is something that is found in the whole Drake Sister series – despite the danger, you will always feel the love of the sisters and the townsfolk. One of the things that I thought was adorable was how Kate thought she and Matt would not fit. After all, she was an author who was stuck with words and her imagination and he was an action hero come to life. Matt was always so enthralled by Kate that he eventually wrecked three cars because she had him so discombobulated. He was trying to prove his adoration, and she just didn’t catch that until he finally got through to her. I have to admit that, though I read the original, I did still feel like shaking her a couple of times before her eyes were opened. This is a Christmas-themed read and it also has quite a bit of laughter with old man Mars, who hates Christmas, giving out a lot of his famous snark. Also, with the pageant, there is a lot of hilarity on some of the costumes, and the budding romance gives the sisters a chance to tease their quiet sister. All in all, THE TWILIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a fantastic read. It gives that eerie feel that is the Drake Sisters’ books, but adds in the warmth and love that fit the holidays very nicely.
