Justice-Psy are not known for their longevity especially before the Silence was ended. Even now there is a danger they face that no one else understands. J-Psy Eleri Dias knows that she is near the end of her life with her mind about to face the final stages that mean death to a J-Psy. She never expected to find herself facing the world she thought was lost way back in her childhood. But looking up in the ATONEMENT SKY above, she hopes for peace as she gets rid of the danger a predator brings to the falcon territory.
Falcon wing leader Adam Garrett is the protector of his family and clan. He isn’t one to forgive the loss of his parents due to what he sees as the betrayal by a J-Psy and Eleri is part of that betrayal and past. Can he get over that anger to realize she is his world – and can it be done before she dies?
ATONEMENT SKY is a new Psy-Changeling novel by author Nalini Singh and reaches new heights (maybe a slight pun intended) for this series. Adam Garrett is an intriguing Falcon shifter, who is protective and torn when it comes to the J-Psy who comes back into his life.
What happened to him and his family is sad and also feels very much like a modern look at those who have the money and thus the power too often win. Eleri is one of those characters that you want to reach in and hug while slapping those who thought so little of her when she was a child. Luckily readers get only a bit of the dangerous things that were done to the J-Psy through the years, especially for those who had their minds time after time. All that has come crashing down on this particular team and surprisingly it is the Falcon clan who helps them find peace. That in itself is an intriguing twist of chance, magic and technology with a mixture of love, patience and a remarkable bit of the growth of family of the heart.
As with all of Ms. Singh’s books, the writing is so vivid that you feel as if you are there, the conversations are realistic, and the romance is sweet, hot and steamy. ATONEMENT SKY is a whirlwind of action and drama that will grab you from word one to the last word.
