THE SHADOWS RULE ALL follows The Stolen Throne as the finale of author Abigail Owen’s Dominions series. Meren has been fighting King Eidolon for her world for a long time and now with a chance to take it all back, she moves forward. She and her sister Tabra must work together to strengthen the Goddess’ amulets and defeat this fake king.
THE SHADOWS RULE ALL is a darker, more violent ending to the series, but that should have been expected as the world that Ms. Owen has given us was made dark by the king and his evil. The turning of the king is also explained in the offering – though I am afraid I still didn’t like him. Sometimes fighting evil takes a toll and that has happened to Meren, who many times seemed to lose her way but in the end, is the heroine she is meant to be.
Those who have read the previous books know that Reven had been captured by Eidolon and at some point, Meren is able to pull him out. Though he’s pretty much in a coma, with no memory he is at least not part of the king.
There are a lot of things that take place, enemies to be thwarted, traitors to be exiled, Goddesses to be atoned, tears, heartbreak and yet the happy ending does find its way into THE SHADOW’S RULE ALL.
The action and danger are well-written and will have your heart racing as it all feels so real. It is hard for readers, and I am sure the writers find it dangerous to kill off fan favorites but during a war, those things happen. To find out who was lost to us read THE SHADOW’S RULE ALL. As stated, there is a happily ever after for the main characters and life as it was meant to be will slowly return.
THE SHADOW’S RULE ALL is the perfect finale with romance, danger, intrigue and pure determination vividly written in the pages.
