Trauma nurse Cate Holloway is used to remaining calm when mangled bodies and gunshot wounds enter the ER. That calmness disappears instantly when it’s Channing’s body on a stretcher. Worse yet, it’s obvious that her foster brother is working for the Gage family, the family they both swore they’d have nothing to do with because of their well-known cruelty. Channing also owes Lachlan Gage money- and the only way out of the Gage family’s employment is death. Cate is determined to save her brother, even if it means giving him her mother’s ring. Her mother’s ring is the only item she owns of value as well as the only tie she has to a family she can’t remember, but she’s willing to offer it to Lach if he will release Channing of his debts. Lach has another bargain in mind, however… and Cate is about to find herself caught up in the Otherworld and its politics as Lach is more than just a criminal. He’s a Fae prince.
FILTHY RICH FAE is the first book in a new series featuring the dangerously alluring world of the Fae. Geneva Lee has crafted a fantastic romantasy with a mafia-like edge to the storyline. Normally I’m not a fan of books featuring criminal enterprises and mafia-like morally gray characters, but Cate’s disdain made it work well for me.
Cate is a phenomenal heroine, full of empathy for others. I love her sassy comments and willingness to face even the scariest of things for the ones she loves. Lach is a bit harder to like initially, as we see him through Cate’s eyes and his coldness and mysteries upon mysteries make it hard to fathom what is real and what is glamour. However, as the story progresses, he becomes quite lovable, heroic almost, as his underlying thoughts and emotions start to show. By the end of the story (and with that stunning cliffhanger ending), it’s impossible not to cheer for Lach.
Geneva Lee breathes fresh air into the Fae genre. FILTHY RICH FAE adds richness and depth to the Fae world, delving into the various courts and their politics while also showcasing the fascinating and seductive atmosphere permeating it all. If you like romantasy, run- don’t walk- to pick up FILTHY RICH FAE. You’ll love it!
“You made a bargain... Your soul for his—and now, you are mine.”
In New Orleans, one rule stands above the rest: never cross the Gage crime family. Their word is law. Their enemies disappear. And their prince—lethal, beautiful, and utterly inhuman—does not grant mercy.
Cate Holloway has spent her life avoiding them—until her brother makes a mistake that cannot be undone. Now, to save him, she must face Lachlan Gage, the dark prince of the city\'s underworld. But Lachlan doesn’t deal in money or favors. He deals in souls.
Bound by a bargain she never wanted, Cate is dragged into a world she never should have seen—where shadows whisper secrets, fae courts plot in the dark, and her captor is far more than just a crime lord. With only thirty days to break the curse that binds her, Cate has two choices: outwit the ruthless fae who holds her fate… or surrender to the dangerous temptation he offers.
Because if she fails, she won’t just lose her soul. She’ll lose her heart—to the one being she swore to hate.
