Women's Fiction Contemporary | Romance

LILAC TIME is an anthology of three short stories by three amazing authors. Short and sweet but filled with moments in life that will touch any reader’s heart.

Sweet as Honey by Fern Michaels brings together Natalie and Garret. Natalie was back home mending a broken heart and Garrett was a beekeeper who just kept buzzing around her. At first, she is irritated because she has no interest in a winking saluting idiot.

Most of what Sweet as Honey deals with is starting over and finding yourself. I found the romance a bit lacking, but Ms. Michaels allows us to see the interest as we follow Natalie into her new life. A sweet easy read story.

Everything She’d Ever Wanted by Lori Foster features Annabeth and Devlin. He has his hands full raising his sweet little daughter as a widower while also taking care of his elderly uncle. But the truth is she would give anything to have the joy and togetherness that seems to sweep around these three people.

Of the three books, this one was my favorite. I adored Annabeth.  She is no-nonsense, but she is also unsure that a man like Devlin would be interested in her, she adores the uncle and little girl and knows they are what real family should be like. Ms. Foster doesn’t detail it out but Annabeth was in foster care and survived to be a tough but sweet woman. Well written though short filled with the real world that has gone good for two people – well four if you count daughter and uncle – who deserve it. And, of course, the doggie stole the show as she was supposed to.

The Memory Cabin by Carolyn Brown brings readers to a Texas lakeside cabin. Jenna Stewart and her friends have spent time at the cabin for years, a tradition, but traditions are sometimes meant to change. Jenna had lost her mother and ended her marriage, and her friends were also dealing with change. Good things and it gets Jenna thinking about her future and the future with the new park ranger Carson. There are several secrets that come out about Jenna and you will laugh when you realize that the ex-husband was an idiot.

These romances are sweet and learning to live with change is a lesson in each of the stories in LILAC TIME. If you are looking for quick reads, but ones that will touch the heartstrings then this is definitely one you want to get your hands on.

SUMMARY

The air is sweet, the days grow warm, and the budding branches bring the promise of bright new beginnings in this heartwarming springtime collection headlined by one of the most beloved storytellers of our time, Fern Michaels, joined by bestselling authors Carolyn Brown and Lori Foster.

SWEET AS HONEY * Fern Michaels
Natalie is through with pining over her ex. If only her efforts to be social again didn’t lead to repeated run-ins with an infuriating beekeeper at the local farmer’s market. Yet Garrett keeps buzzing around. And as Natalie watches his patience and dedication in tending his hives, she begins to wonder if life has a sweet surprise in store.

EVERYTHING SHE’D EVER WANTED * Lori Foster
Annabeth can see that her neighbor’s handsome nephew, Devlin, has his hands full, raising his little girl single-handed. Yet though his life is frazzled, it’s full of the kind of joy and togetherness she longs for. And when Devlin’s daughter and Annabeth’s tiny dog fall hard for each other, it might be the start of more than one beautiful friendship.

THE MEMORY CABIN * Carolyn Brown
Jenna Stewart loves gathering at her Texas lakeside cabin with her girlfriends. It’s an annual tradition to reconnect with the women who helped her deal with her mother’s passing along with the end of her marriage. But this year, lives are changing, dreams are evolving. And perhaps Jenna’s heart has healed enough to welcome a new love that arrives with the first flowers of spring . . .
