IN NEED OF A COWBOY is a book that has one novella by Linda Lael Miller named Ask Me Again and a second offering by Heather Graham THE COWBOY.
In ASK ME AGAIN Jack is an Arizona rancher who is shocked to find that he is the father of a 12-year-old boy named Gideon. But there is no denying the truth as the boy is an exact copy of him. The truth of the boy’s life will pull at everyone’s heart as he had already lived a life of betrayal and insecurity and had no one to believe in. Jack plans to change the kid’s life but has no idea how to do it. Luckily for both of them, Harper Quinn is a new neighbor. She is a burned-out social worker, but she has no way of turning her back on these two needy guys. She and her little dog help bring love to the lonely boy and his equally lonely father.
This is a well-written, easy-to-read novella that will leave romance fans with a sigh and wanting more. You will feel for the life young Gideon had lived and quickly find yourself rooting for all good things to come his way. All the while knowing Jack and Harper will provide that as soon as they acknowledge what they feel for one another. And, of course, everything we expect to happen happens, and getting there is quite an adventure.
THE COWBOY is the novella by Heather Graham where Deputy Sheriff Vicky Henderson goes undercover after two women go missing. She is a redhead just as the other women are and she quickly finds that she is in way over her head. The only saving grace was an arrogant cowboy she had dismissed earlier was actually an FBI agent on the case because one of the girls was a senator. Soon the chase is on. The action is heart-pounding as they race through swamps and follow leads.
At first, this couple is not very receptive to the other as first impressions are not flattering but soon learn to work together or not only ruin the chances of solving the case – they also risk losing their chance of love. This was a well-written novella with characters that were entertaining and diverse. The action as always with Ms. Graham’s writing ability, is realistic and at times will have readers holding their breath.
IN NEED OF A COWBOY will give romance and cowboy fans exactly what they are looking for. One offering is a sweet, deeply moving, emotional romance with the second an action-packed steamy offering. Grab this book, settle back and enjoy two different romances!
