Having grown up in Hudson Creek with an abusive father Kyran O’Callaghan was a typical out-of-control teen. Knowing he was in danger of going too far down the wrong road, he joined the military leaving, that bad boy's life behind. Returning he wants to build up his auto repair business and live a better life than he had. Of course, the sheriff of the town knew him well in those old days and doesn’t believe he has changed. The biggest problem he faces is that his competition in the repair business is the sheriff’s son. So, Sheriff Terrance Hill hassles Kyran at every turn and when he accuses him of a false crime, someone steps forward as his alibi.
Lucie Miller has been TEMPTED BY HER NEIGHBOR since he moved in and wasn’t about to let him continue being hassled by the jerk sheriff. She had no way of knowing that Kyran was attracted to her but found himself becoming strangely shy and backward whenever she was around.
TEMPTED BY HER NEIGHBOR is a novella that author Katie Reus has previously published but took the time to revise and edit. A sweet story that is a perfectly paced small-town romance, with a bit of a mystery added in. Kyran only wants to live a quiet life with his business and when Lucie steps forward he wants to add her into that life. Lucie knew Kyran wasn’t doing anything wrong as she had been watching him constantly hoping to catch his eye. I found it amusing to watch Kyran, who seemed so self-assured in everything else, finally find his voice with Lucie and move forward to give his heart to the woman he thought was prim and proper and way out of his reach.
The supporting characters helped broaden the storyline by adding intrigue, fun moments with friends and her family members, especially her overprotective brothers and the angst caused by the jerk sheriff who knew the younger Kyran and wanted him gone.
TEMPTED BY HER NEIGHBOR is a much too short read that will leave you very satisfied with the results but just wanting a few more pages to escape with. If you like small-town sexy romances this will fit that bill perfectly.
Kyran got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but after eight years in the military, he’s left his troublemaking past behind him, built a successful business and put down roots. Unfortunately, the sheriff of his hometown has a long memory. To him, Kyran will always be a loser, no matter how much he’s cleaned up his act.
And now she’s his alibi…
When he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, no one is more surprised than Kyran when prim and proper Lucie Miller provides him with an alibi—one that’s a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next-door neighbor stepped up, he soon finds himself in danger of losing something far more important than his newfound respectability—his heart.
