MOB BRIDE opens up with a simple plan to enjoy the theater with family but very quickly the world in which Shane O’Rourke lives spins in an unexpected direction. A direction that might force him to choose between his family and his heart – something he never expected to think of as a possibility.

Carys certainly didn’t expect to find love or a couple of secrets when she accidentally triggers an alarm. But there she is faced with an irate mob guy who is also tender and caring. His actions were not exactly those she would imagine a Mob guy to be able to feel so it must be a trick. Or is Shane O’Rourke really that amazing of a man?

MOB BRIDE is the fifth installment of author Sabine Barclay’s O’Rourke Brotherhood series, and the action starts early. Carys – who becomes Carrie only to Shane (as is a tradition for the mob guys) is a strong woman, who has put her life on the line many times. So, when she sees the tender side of Shane she is surprised. The secrets, including who Carys is and her part in Shane’s world, are revealed as you read, and as always this author finds intriguing ways of bringing the men and the loves of their lives to them.

This book is filled with surprises, some will have you laughing (especially the antics of the brothers and cousins) and others will have you on the edge of your seat. A word of warning the action and violence are rather graphic as expected in a dark mafia romance but there is also a lightness and sweetness in the romance and family portions of MOB BRIDE.

MOB BRIDE is a well-written, action-packed addition to the Irish Mob series. If you haven’t read any others in the series do not worry, Ms. Barclay gives plenty of background information that will have you right into the action with all the knowledge that you need.
