F.B.I profiler Laural Snow is being drawn into another brutal string of murders and as the grisly site plays again and again, she must face some hard facts. YOU CAN KILL is something that comes too easily for this killer but when a pattern becomes obvious, and it involves someone she cares about she will move mountains to get answers. Huck Rivers, fish and wildlife captain and Laurel’s lover is pulled into the action when a development in the case touches him. He also needs to protect Laurel from her crazy sister Abigail and their even crazier yet charismatic father. In the end who will win?
YOU CAN KILL starts just where You Can Die ends. It is not really a stand-alone, though author Rebecca Zanetti does give enough background to be able to follow along fairly easily. Laurel is a genius who attended college at 11 years old and now is a profiler for the F.B.I. She doesn’t always get emotions but is learning. Huck is ex-military and now works for the Washington Fish and Wildlife as a captain and was at first very reluctant to get involved with Laurel but now refuses to be parted from her. They are both learning what love is and Ms. Zanetti does an amazing job of letting them grow while we, the readers and fans, get to watch along.
The danger and intrigue are first rate as is the absolutely well-done dynamic of her team members. Even the crazy sister – and explaining how they are sisters would take too long but suffice to say yes, they are – is so believable you hope never to meet anyone like her. The team members are in sync and more than willing to twist the law to catch the killers.
YOU CAN KILL will have you on the edge of your seat as you do a bit of nail-biting as the danger comes closer and closer to an unexpected (or maybe it is expected) finale. Word of warning – and I can’t give details as it might be considered a spoiler – you might want a box of tissues handy.

Huck is not spared either as a shocking development in the case touches his own life. With the murders, and the suspects, multiplying around them, and the lives of everyone in their orbit at stake, only Laurel’s sharp analytic skills, Huck’s deep gut instincts, and their growing bond will enable them to face the demons within and the threats without—before they’re next on an elusive killer’s hit list . . .
