Holiday | Women's Fiction Contemporary

I found myself laughing out loud over and over again as I was reading ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY by Susan Mallery.  I couldn't help it.  Some of the conversations were just so funny and they made me feel like I was right there in the cabin with all of these wonderful characters.  If you are looking for an amusing holiday tale, you must read ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY. As each secret comes out, there are tears and then laughter. Oh, I can't forget to let you know that someone gets shot and someone breaks their arm.  What a holiday to remember right?

Open up a copy of ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY and you will find yourself surrounded by a mix of people. Kids as well as plenty of adults,  an ex-wife, new love and one crabby mother, you will experience a wild and crazy Christmas!  ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY is filled with crazy drama, love, happiness, tears and second chances. Julie Parker and her much younger boyfriend, Heath, are planning a nice white holiday with just the two of them.  But we all know how plans go.  Soon they find themselves celebrating with their families in the Parker cabin, which sounds like a mini mansion.

In ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY, all of the characters are very interesting and believable, so much so that I felt as if I’d known them for a long time. I would love to hang out with this family. I’m sure they could teach me a thing or two and I know they would keep me laughing all day long! I love how Susan Mallery does that to me each and every time. She has me longing to find friends just like her characters. There is so much heart in Susan’s writing that I was left with a huge smile on my face and my heart very happy. Susan Mallery is the queen of writing heartfelt stories about women and family drama. If you are looking for a quick, funny, feel-good story, you can’t go wrong with ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY!

SUMMARY

Please don’t come home for Christmas

Julie Parker’s kids are her greatest gift. Still, she’s not exactly heartbroken when they ask to skip a big Christmas. Her son, Nick, is taking a belated honeymoon with his bride, Blair, while her daughter, Dana, will purge every reminder of the guy who dumped her. Again. Julie feels practically giddy for one-on-one holiday time with Heath, the (much) younger man she’s secretly dating.

But her plans go from cozy to chaotic when Nick and Dana plead for Christmas at the family cabin in memory of their late father, Julie’s ex. She can’t refuse, even though she dreads their reactions to her new man when they realize she’s been hiding him for months.

As the guest list grows in surprising ways, from Blair’s estranged mom to Heath’s precocious children, Julie’s secret is one of many to be unwrapped. Over this delightfully complicated and very funny Christmas, she’ll discover that more really is merrier, and that a big, happy family can become bigger and happier, if they let go of old hurts and open their hearts to love.
