THE HOLIDAY COTTAGE has got to be the best feel-good story I have read in a long time. Hang on to your seats, it’s a crazy rollercoaster ride! At first, the story is fun and light. Then it takes a turn and gets emotional and deals with many different heavy situations. Imogen has pictures on her desk of her family and her dog. Only they aren't her family or her dog. They are fake just like the family stories she shares with her co-workers. Imogen works 24/7 and rarely takes a day off. After a disaster at work she is forced to take time off and her favorite client, Dorothy, offers Imogen her cottage in the Cotswolds.
THE HOLIDAY COTTAGE is filled with love, healing, second chances, and wonderful friendships. I have only read Sarah Morgan a few times before but after reading THE HOLIDAY COTTAGE I know I will be reading everything by her that I can get my hands on. She hooked me from the very first page. I found myself absorbed in this story and I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters within this heart-tugging story. I found all of the characters very real and relatable and it was interesting to read how they are all dealing with their troubles in very different ways and it takes a holiday away to try and help them in many different ways.
THE HOLIDAY COTTAGE has it all, adventure, heartbreak, great dialogue, and awesome characters. Once I started reading, it was very hard to stop! I have made it a quest to catch up on the rest of Sarah’s books because her writing is just that good. She makes her readers feel every emotion her characters are feeling to the point where they feel as if they are right there, riding along with them. My emotions were on a wild roller coaster ride from the first page until the very end. At first, I tried to read it slowly and make it last, but soon I was so caught up in everyone’s lives and business, that I was flipping the pages like a mad woman. When Dorothy confided in Imogen, I was floored. I was shocked and that's all that I can say! What a huge secret! You have to read THE HOLIDAY COTTAGE to find out what I mean! Trust me, you won't be sorry!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Fresh Fiction. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
From USA TODAY bestselling author of The Book Club Hotel, Sarah Morgan returns with a heartfelt story of friendship, finding yourself, and the surprising ties that bring us together. Perfect for fans of Rebecca Serle and Jennifer Weiner.
To the outside world, Imogen is a marketing dynamo. Her colleagues don’t know that while her high-achieving professional image is real, the happy childhood stories she spins are as fake as her pretend enthusiasm for Christmas. Working 24/7 has always been her solution to surviving the festive season—until burnout leads to a catastrophic blunder.
Suddenly, Imogen is handed a holiday gift she definitely doesn’t want: enforced time off work to recuperate. Then an invitation arrives from her favorite client, Dorothy, to stay at her guest cottage in the Cotswolds. From the thatched roof to the cozy open fireplace, Holly Cottage is a picture-perfect haven… Can it provide the fresh start Imogen so desperately needs?
For Dorothy, helping Imogen offers a longed-for chance to make reparations for her own past. But as her daughter Sara keeps reminding her, it brings risks, too. Yet Dorothy knows that only a leap of courage will allow her family to grow and heal. And perhaps this Christmas, with Dorothy’s help, the new life that Imogen is slowly piecing together could be better than anything either of them could imagine…
