I have finally read my first Emma Lord novel and THE BREAK-UP PACT is an amazing story. It's filled with laugh-out-loud moments and I was instantly pulled into the story. June is back in Benson Beach after almost ten years to run her sister's dream shop, Tea Tide. June is struggling with running the business after her sister passed away and her long-time boyfriend broke up with her. She is barely keeping her head above water, late in paying the rent on the beachside tea shop and the business has gone stale.
When she runs into Levi, her childhood friend, who has also just broken up with his fiance, life gets crazy for both of them. June's friend comes up with a crazy plan that will save face for both of them. It will also generate many customers to come to Tea Tide and spend their money. They will be fake dating and documenting it on social media along the way. What could possible go wrong? THE BREAK-UP PACT finds June fighting those old feelings for Levi and it seems Levi has a secret of his own. June is completely freaking out because fake dating doesn't include falling in love, or does it? This story shows how June and Levi both did lots of growing up and I loved every minute of it.
Emma Lord is such a fantastic author if THE BREAK-UP PACT is always how she writes her stories. I'm so excited to get caught up on her backlist. If you are like me and have never read Emma before THE BREAK-UP PACT would be a great place to start. All of her characters feel so real and she puts her readers right in the middle of the story where they are left feeling like they are right there running on the beach with June and Levi. I love the way June stays true to herself throughout the story and doesn't let anyone steer her differently. I would love to spend the weekend at Benson Beach with all these fun and awesome characters. They made me laugh over and over again.
