"The agents must stop black market killers!"

Mystery | Romance Suspense

Special Agents Carly MacDonald and Luke Kendrick find themselves once again in Scotland and the alleyways of Edinburgh looking for murderers but this time there is a very evil MARKET FOR MURDER in the works. The infamous Burke and Hare killers seem to be once again at work – the copycats anyway as Burke and Hare are long gone.

The Blackbird Files team members find that a team is killing and harvesting organs for the black market, and they must hurry to stop them before more bodies appear. The closer they come the more chance that one of them might be next in line for the harvesting.

Heather Graham and her special agents are back again in MARKET FOR MURDER, the second of her The Blackbird Files and agents Carly and Luke. We met this couple in “Death Behind Every Door” book one of the series. In each of these books, Ms. Graham gives a history lesson on the killers who are being imitated and some of the things they did were very harrowing and also very evil. Burke and Hare were body snatchers who decided that digging up corpses for the medical world to study was too much work, so much easier just to kill them.

In MARKET FOR MURDER, the team of people who kill and harvest are well written as people you would never suspect. However, I am proud to admit that I did – in my pursuit of being a book detective – figure out at least one of the culprits. Though, as always with Ms. Graham’s books it is not easy to get ahead of her final reveals. There is always a paranormal bend to the books and those who see ghosts are lucky as they are more than willing to help defeat the evil – an evil that the original Burke and Hare placed on them.

MARKET FOR MURDER is descriptive in such a way that you see the streets, the houses, and the people as if you were standing side by side with the agents. If you enjoy a good bit of history, especially in places so captivating as Scotland, a mystery, intrigue, danger, drama, a touch of romance and a camaraderie that only those who have each other’s backs can show then MARKET FOR MURDER is exactly all that and more.

SUMMARY

In the alleys of Edinburgh, someone is killing for profit…

Scotland has a dead body problem. Another one. And in the wake of a similar spate of tribute killings, Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald know they have their work cut out for them. Working alongside a new team of agents, the partners have more questions than answers when the crime scenes yield little evidence. In the style of infamous killers Burke and Hare, it appears victims are being moved to a secondary location, where they’re dissected and sold for spare parts.

With the clock ticking on every organ being harvested, the members of Blackbird know the killers must be near at hand, and soon discover that they’re also being closed in on. As questions begin to arise about the newest additions to their team, Luke and Carly are running out of time—and people they can trust—to catch the killers before the agents themselves are the next to be put on ice.
