Romance

Okay, I don’t know how she continues to do it, but Katherine Center owes me a box of tissues! Wow, she just ripped out my heart and stomped all over it, and I didn’t even see it coming! Keep the tissues close by as you are reading THE ROM-COMMERS by Katherine Center. She will have your emotions all over the place. I have only read six other books by Katherine Center before but I know THE ROM-COMMERS won’t be the last! I’m so excited to read more by this author that as soon as I was finished, I went on the hunt for the rest of the books I missed. Wow! What an awesome story. Once I started reading, it was very hard to stop! I have made it a quest to catch up on the rest of her books because her writing is just that good. She makes her readers feel every emotion her characters are feeling to the point where you feel as if they are right there with you, struggling along with them.

If you are not a Katherine Center fan, I promise you, you will be after reading THE ROM-COMMERS.  Emma Wheeler is an unknown screenwriter who has spent the last ten years taking care of her dad.  He had a tragic accident and needs constant care.  Emma's lifelong friend Logan gets her a gig helping Charlie Yates. Charlie is a very successful screenwriter and a god to Emma. To say she worships him would be a huge understatement.  At first, Charlie doesn't even know Emma is coming to help with his rom-com, which he butchered, according to Emma who is the queen of rom-coms.  So, imagine his surprise when Logan and Emma show up on Charlie's doorstep.  Then he finds out that Emma will be living there. The whole situation will have you giggling like crazy like I was.

I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away all of THE ROM-COMMERS but once I started reading this beautiful and heartbreaking story, I could not stop! Everyone should have this unforgettable book on their summer/fall reading list. The dialogue between Emma and Charlie is just hysterical. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters from page one and I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart-tugging author.  I never re-read books but I can totally see myself re-reading THE ROM-COMMERS.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Fresh Fiction. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

SUMMARY

Featuring beautiful spray-painted edges with vibrant designed endpapers.

The New York Times bestselling author Katherine Center's next laugh out loud, feel good rom-com about writing your own story.

She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?

Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.

Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone—much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script—it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme.

But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter—even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules—and comes true?
