What a great story! There were a lot of deep issues talked about in THE ROADS WE FOLLOW but Nicole Deese does a great job portraying them thoughtfully and not overdoing it. Raegan is the daughter of country superstar, Luella Farrow. Raegan chooses to keep the secret that she is writing a book about her mother from her sisters and mother as they leave on a two-week, cross-country road trip that their mother has planned. At first, she was going to try and get her fiction series published under a pen name, but that fell through. Then while on the road, she learns someone is writing a tell-all book about her mother and their family so she tries to beat them to it!
THE ROADS WE FOLLOW is filled with secrets, sister-friends, forgiveness, family, love, finding oneself, faith, and camp! Yes, camp! I loved this story and I'm pretty sure, I just found my new favorite author! There are laugh-out-loud moments and heart-wrenching, tears flowing in the next moment while reading. What an emotional roller coaster ride Nicole Deese puts her readers on. THE ROADS WE FOLLOW is without a doubt one of the best emotional books I’ve read in 2024. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters. My heart broke for Raegan and for all she was dealing with.
Nicole Deese has such a way of storytelling that she shatters her reader's hearts and then puts them back together again. I loved every minute of it too! She has a way of pulling her readers right in and making them fall in love with all of her characters. I found myself cheering for Raegan and Micah throughout most of the story. THE ROADS WE FOLLOW had me wanting to reach into the story and give them both a hug. The bantering between these two is hysterical and I was giggling out loud more than once.
