Romance Contemporary

Luna manages Apple Ridge Farm and she’s very good at it. She handles the crises like a pro. It helps that she’s surrounded herself with her chosen family. Her adopted grandmother, her best friend, and her ex-boyfriend all work for her. Everything is running smoothly until the cranky owner dies. Upon his death, Luna discovers that not only did he leave her half of the farm, but he’s also her biological grandfather.

Luna’s not sure how to tell her family the truth; she’s still processing the news. Enter Jameson Hayes, an investment manager and also the owner of the other half of the farm. He’s not here with good news. The farm is not financially stable. Silas took out a loan, that’s due in a matter of months. Can they find a way to work together despite their issues and emotional baggage?

THE BRIGHT SPOT is the fifth book in the Sunrise Cove series by Jill Shalvis. Aside from the setting, there seems to be no other connection between the books and no overlapping characters from previous storylines. But that’s the only downside to this series. Luna is a loyal big-hearted heroine with trust issues. The romance is spicy. Humor comes from Luna’s adoptive grandmother and the charming but mischievous goat that steals the book. As one comes to expect in a novel by Jill Shalvis, THE BRIGHT SPOT is rounded out with friendships, finding your community, and dreaming big.

Reading a Jill Shalvis book is like having a drink with your best friend; you never want it to end and your time together leaves you feeling uplifted and maybe with a book hangover. THE BRIGHT SPOT is no different!

SUMMARY

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Sunrise Cove with a heartwarming story about the choices we make and the love we let into our lives...

Luna Wright is a lot of things, but sweet and trusting isn’t on the list. However, she’s a sucker for the underdog and a hard-luck story. Adopted at birth, with scant knowledge of her biological family, she’s created her own inner circle, a motley crew which includes her bestie Willow, to help her run the struggling but charming Apple Ridge Farm.

With a farm-to-table café as well as a menagerie of rescued animals (complete with a baby goat who keeps escaping to the pantry to eat the secret stash of decidedly not organic potato chips), it’s the best home she’s ever known. But when the owner Silas, who they secretly call The Grinch, passes away, Luna discovers the farm is now under control of his investment manager, the enigmatic Jameson Hayes….and her. And that Silas had many, many secrets.

Now Luna’s carefully controlled corner of the world is threatened and she—along with some help from her friends—has to dig deep to find true strength and the real meaning of love and family.
