Romance Suspense

Talia March lost a night seven months ago along with her two fellow Lost Night Files podcasters. She is following a lead about a document that may help them figure out what happened. Talia is about to find more than she bargained for. Luke Rand lost a night about three months ago. He thinks that his psychic ability was enhanced to make him an assassin for someone. Luke is about to find some answers. When Talia and Luke meet looking for the same information, they’ll team up to follow a lead that takes them to the Night Island.

Jayne Ann Krentz continues her Lost Night Files trilogy with the second book, THE NIGHT ISLAND. A woman and her two friends go looking for answers after they lose a night seven months ago that enhanced their psychic abilities. A lead takes Talia March to a document with a list of names who took a survey years ago. A man looking to find out what happened to him three months ago is also following the same lead. Luke Rand can only remember pieces of the night he lost three months ago and wants to find out what happened. His psychic abilities were also enhanced, and he thinks he’s in this alone until he meets up with a woman who can find things that are hidden.

THE NIGHT ISLAND has danger, intrigue, passion, and two people looking for answers to what happened to them when they lost one night and found their psychic abilities become stronger. When the main characters meet, they don’t trust each other but agree to work together to find the answers to what happened to them. Luke thinks he’s killed two people and Talia wants to know who enhanced her two friends and her abilities. A man who thinks he’s alone in this unique situation finds there are more people like him than he thought. There will be questions answered but still more to figure out. The Lost Night Files podcast grows while they still look for answers.

Jayne Ann Krentz writes a great story about looking for answers with a few unique psychic abilities. An island that was a government test site, bodies that go missing, and a family of bad guys. The reader is introduced to new characters and a surprise visit by a couple of characters you met in Jayne Ann Krentz’s Fogg Lake trilogy. If you’re a fan of Ms. Krentz like I am then THE NIGHT ISLAND is a must-read along with SLEEP NO MORE. This Jayne Ann Krentz fan cannot wait for the final book in the Lost Night Files trilogy to see what happens next.

SUMMARY

The disappearance of a mysterious informant leads two people desperate for answers to an island of deadly deception in this new novel in the Lost Night Files trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz.

Talia March, Pallas Llewellyn, and Amelia Rivers, bonded by a night none of them can remember, are dedicated to uncovering the mystery of what really happened to them months ago—an experience that amplified innate psychic abilities in each of them. The women suspect they were test subjects years earlier, and that there are more people like them—all they have to do is find the list of others who took that same test. When Talia follows up on a lead from Phoebe, a fan of the trio’s podcast, she discovers that the informant has vanished.

Talia isn’t the only one looking for Phoebe, however. Luke Rand, a hunted and haunted man who is chasing the same list that Talia is after, also shows up at the meeting place. It’s clear he has his own agenda, and they are instantly suspicious of each other. But when a killer begins to stalk them, they realize they have to join forces to find Phoebe and the list.

The rocky investigation leads Talia and Luke to a rustic, remote retreat on Night Island in the Pacific Northwest, where the Unplugged Experience promises to rejuvenate guests. Upon their arrival, Talia and Luke discover they are quite literally cut off from the outside world when none of their high-tech devices work on the island. It soon becomes clear that Phoebe is not the first person to disappear into the strange gardens that surround the Unplugged Experience retreat. And then the first mysterious death occurs. . . .
