Talia March, Pallas Llewellyn, and Amelia Rivers are podcasters who have come together to clear the mystery of their lost night. After many searches and missed opportunities, they finally have a lead that will take Talia and a mystery man to Night Island.
Luke Rand is also searching for answers, and he is almost afraid of what he will find, but coming across Talia is probably the best thing that has happened to him. He canβt remember anything aside from waking to screams and blood β he only knows he was Subject A and was about to be terminated.
The commonality they all have is that years ago they took a special test that dealt with psychic abilities, and it seems that the people on that list have been targeted for experiments that they would never agree to. The couple meet when they both arrive to buy the list from an informant. The list is gone and so is the woman who offered to sell it to them. Taliaβs ability to find missing things leads her to suspect that Phoebe has been kidnapped. The only chance Talia and Luke have in finding her and the list is to work together. They certainly didnβt expect danger to follow them everywhere or that they would fall in love...Β
THE NIGHT ISLAND is Jayne Ann Krentz at her very best. Few can even match this author when it comes to romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. The characters are quirky in a good way β people who accept that they are the way they are and if you canβt accept them then that is okay. Luke was afraid that he had been turned into an assassin and it took Taliaβs understanding and point of view on life to make him realize that he couldnβt be one.
The island was spooky and reminiscent of something Ms. Krentzβ alter ego, Jayne Castle, would create, like Harmony, a world with crazed plants and even crazier caretakers. They had signed up for an Unplugged Experience but found a whole world of cons and strange happenings and even stranger people.
If you want a read you cannot put down filled with people and things that you might want to see and some things you are really glad that only exist in this authorβs imagination, then THE NIGHT ISLAND is what you want in your hands. Oh yes, and the romance has just the right touches of sweet and steamy to mix into the adventure.
