Romance Suspense

Talia March, Pallas Llewellyn, and Amelia Rivers are podcasters who have come together to clear the mystery of their lost night. After many searches and missed opportunities, they finally have a lead that will take Talia and a mystery man to Night Island.

Luke Rand is also searching for answers, and he is almost afraid of what he will find, but coming across Talia is probably the best thing that has happened to him. He can’t remember anything aside from waking to screams and blood – he only knows he was Subject A and was about to be terminated.

The commonality they all have is that years ago they took a special test that dealt with psychic abilities, and it seems that the people on that list have been targeted for experiments that they would never agree to. The couple meet when they both arrive to buy the list from an informant. The list is gone and so is the woman who offered to sell it to them. Talia’s ability to find missing things leads her to suspect that Phoebe has been kidnapped. The only chance Talia and Luke have in finding her and the list is to work together. They certainly didn’t expect danger to follow them everywhere or that they would fall in love...

THE NIGHT ISLAND is Jayne Ann Krentz at her very best. Few can even match this author when it comes to romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. The characters are quirky in a good way – people who accept that they are the way they are and if you can’t accept them then that is okay. Luke was afraid that he had been turned into an assassin and it took Talia’s understanding and point of view on life to make him realize that he couldn’t be one.

The island was spooky and reminiscent of something Ms. Krentz’ alter ego, Jayne Castle, would create, like Harmony, a world with crazed plants and even crazier caretakers. They had signed up for an Unplugged Experience but found a whole world of cons and strange happenings and even stranger people.

If you want a read you cannot put down filled with people and things that you might want to see and some things you are really glad that only exist in this author’s imagination, then THE NIGHT ISLAND is what you want in your hands. Oh yes, and the romance has just the right touches of sweet and steamy to mix into the adventure.

SUMMARY

The disappearance of a mysterious informant leads two people desperate for answers to an island of deadly deception in this new novel in the Lost Night Files trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz.

Talia March, Pallas Llewellyn, and Amelia Rivers, bonded by a night none of them can remember, are dedicated to uncovering the mystery of what really happened to them months ago—an experience that amplified innate psychic abilities in each of them. The women suspect they were test subjects years earlier, and that there are more people like them—all they have to do is find the list of others who took that same test. When Talia follows up on a lead from Phoebe, a fan of the trio’s podcast, she discovers that the informant has vanished.

Talia isn’t the only one looking for Phoebe, however. Luke Rand, a hunted and haunted man who is chasing the same list that Talia is after, also shows up at the meeting place. It’s clear he has his own agenda, and they are instantly suspicious of each other. But when a killer begins to stalk them, they realize they have to join forces to find Phoebe and the list.

The rocky investigation leads Talia and Luke to a rustic, remote retreat on Night Island in the Pacific Northwest, where the Unplugged Experience promises to rejuvenate guests. Upon their arrival, Talia and Luke discover they are quite literally cut off from the outside world when none of their high-tech devices work on the island. It soon becomes clear that Phoebe is not the first person to disappear into the strange gardens that surround the Unplugged Experience retreat. And then the first mysterious death occurs. . . .
