Life, Love and the Pursuit of Hotties

Young Adult

This fifth book in the Emily series doesn't disappoint. Emily is preparing for graduation; missing her oh so hot boyfriend, Fang; avoiding wedding talk with her best friend Dru; and generally, emailing and wailing through this agonizing, stressful doorway to adulthood. Of course, her luck holds and Emily breaks her hand and then, just when everything seems to be looking up -- well, you'll have to read it to find out why the graduation cruise she and Fang have planned takes on a decidedly different tone. What a fun book! Young adult writing is so different from when I was a teen, and Ms. Maxwell knows her stuff! Emily is...okay, dare I say it...perky and funny and all too human in her teen-ness. You know, it does an adult heart good to voyage back to those graduation days. This is a short read and well worth it!

SUMMARY

Subject: Reasons why my life sucks right now From: [email protected] To: [email protected] 1. The end of high school. You'd think that's good, right? Remember that episode of Buffy where the demon snake eats everyone at her graduation? That would be an improvement over mine. 2. Dorm life. Thumbs way up on moving away from home, but down, down, down on the Geek Dorm where I'll spend the next four years. It's going to take forever hipify all those science and techno geeks. 3. Dru's wedding. She may be one of my best friends, but if she thinks I'm going to wear a pink and yellow plaid bridesmaid's dress, she's completely wacked out of her gourd. 4. Romantic graduation present cruise...without the nummiest boyfriend on the face of the earth? One word: Waaaaaaaaah!
