Damion West has only one weakness: Alana Blue. She is the girl he grew up with, the woman he fell in love with, and the one he wants for life. But Damion has a few things to take care of before he can claim her--if she will let him. Or if he even survives what he plans.
Alana Blue has known Damion from boyhood to manhood and knows this man is one she should stay away from. Unfortunately, he is her weakness. Family secrets took her away from her dream of being a lawyer and now she is a top-selling agent in her family’s real estate company as well as a reality star. But somehow the Wests keep barging in her life.
PROTÉGÉ KING by Lisa Renee Jones is an intriguing look at two families and how their lives have intertwined, both for good and bad. Damion is a good man, who has bided his time to overthrow his father and the time is close, but he is doing so while protecting Alana. Alana’s world has become something she had not expected as a young girl or woman, but she is doing the best she can. The last thing she wants is to continue with the feelings she has always harbored for Damion. But if she can help take down the king, she just might let herself be a part of that.
This is a well-written book that shows the couple’s childhood, their hopes and plans, and the reality that is now. This helped with understanding them as people and getting a feel for their stumbling paths to the present.
PROTÉGÉ KING does end in one of author Lisa Renee Jones’ famous cliffhangers and leaves readers wondering just how Damion and Alana can possibly win against their enemy. Steamy, exciting and riveting are words to describe this series opener.
Damion West was the boy who stole my young heart and then broke it. That was a long time ago though and I’m not a girl susceptible to hot boys with big egos who just happen to kiss well anymore. Nor have I kept up with Damion West. Okay, I have. Everyone has. He's the heir to West Enterprises, and notoriously loud on social media.
Everyone knows Damion West. Just not like I do. But that's another story better left untold.
It’s hard sometimes to remember that I’m no slouch myself. Confidence isn't exactly my forte but I fake it well. I’ve worked with my parents’ real estate firm catering to the rich and famous for years and I'm now one of the top agents in the country. Blue Enterprises is the name of our firm, which is also my name. Blue. Alana Blue. And now I'm on TV, the star of Selling in New York.
But every family has secrets. Damion's does and mine does as well. That's why I have the TV show I didn't really want. Nothing is real. Except him. Damion. He's real. So is my past with him. But it's the past.
Then one day I get called to a meeting by the studio head, it's all very secretive. Because it's not the studio at all, or actually, it is. Because his family owns everything.
That's right. The meeting is with him. It's with Damion West. And Lord help me, he's now sexier, and more arrogant than ever.
Also it turns out that what Damion wants from me isn't as simple as a real estate contract. But it's a contract all right.
