Gideon Carpenter is a Ghostwalker with demons. Though he’s the type of person who typically rolls with the punches, since he’s currently sidelined from any action because of the injuries he sustained during his team's last mission, he’s finding it hard to keep his head clear of all the dark thoughts from his past. When he hears a woman’s laughter that soothes his mind, he knows he has to find her. The woman he finds doesn’t give off a Ghostwalker vibe but he’s certain she is one. He just has to figure out what she’s hiding.

Laurel “Rory” Chappel doesn’t remember much about her life growing up but she knows she’s always been sick. Her illness has made it impossible for her to envision someone wanting to take that on in their life, so she’s spent her moving from place to place. Now in San Francisco, Rory is starting to feel like she’s finally in the place she’s meant to be. After meeting Gideon, Rory begins to believe love might have found her as well, so when Gideon betrays her trust for his team, it hurts more than she thought was possible. With a murderer targeting Rory and her friends, Gideon is going to have to win over Rory’s trust again before it’s too late.

GHOSTLY GAME is unlike the other stories from the Ghostwalker series. There are no crazy experiments, no missions, no intriguing rescues; it’s just a boy who messed up with a girl and is trying to win her back, with some old fashion murdering thrown in. The murder mystery takes a bit of a back seat to the emotional roller coaster that Gideon and Rory are on while they try to navigate their relationship, but, because of that, I think it makes the murders that much more intriguing. Why are these things happening and how does it connect to the women who live in the same apartment complex? Christine Feehan does a great job of sucking you into the mystery while still making her characters and their journey the focal point of the story. GHOSTLY GAME is a departure from the typical Ghostwalker book but you’ll still find all the emotion, drama, romance, and action you expect from a Christine Feehan book. A great addition to the series!

SUMMARY

It’s fight or flight in this sultry, suspenseful GhostWalker novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Gideon “Eagle” Carpenter is used to rolling with the punches life has thrown at him. It’s the only thing that’s kept him alive. He and his team of GhostWalkers have seen and experienced it all. He does his best to live with all the sins written on his soul. Then he hears the laughter of a woman with the ability to erase - even for a few previous moments - the darkness of his past.

Laurel “Rory” Chappel has always been a nomad. She’s accustomed to taking care of herself, despite the physical challenges she lives with. She thinks she’s too weak to find real love, but that doesn’t stop her interest in Gideon from turning into a full-on addiction. He’s all rough edges and danger contrasted with a tenderness that makes her feel safe. Still, after a life spent in motion, she’s not sure she knows how to stay in one place.

Gideon hopes he can persuade Rory to take a chance on him with every electric touch. But soon, life conspires against him, forcing the GhostWalker to risk everything to protect the woman he loves....
