Lilah Love-Mendez's life is never dull. Being an F.B.I. profiler isn't exciting enough she had to go and marry the love of her life, Kane Mendez who, of course, everyone believes is a drug lord. He's not--well, no more than Lilah is a killer. Let's just say it looks like THE PARTY IS OVER for someone and it's a tossup who will get to end it. Lilah or Kane.
As with all the Lila Love books by Lisa Renee Jones, this is non-stop action! Lilah is trying to solve a serial killer case, deal with her father (if you haven't read any of this series yet, it is important to note that they don't care for one another), get rid of a tech guy who wants to be her assistant, and not kill Kane's obnoxious uncle. Just another day in the life of Lilah.
I noticed that in THE PARTY IS OVER there is a bit more analysis going on with Lilah. She goes over the attack that happened to her so many years ago--her first kill--and another time featuring a river of blood dream that has haunted her. Other characters that were in past books come back, including the bodyguards, Jay, who Lilah wants to be fired as well as Kit. See, she can be nice; if she didn't like them she wouldn't care if they were injured trying to protect her. The romantic side of this book is sparse, but steamy, but there is a killer on the loose. We also get a sneak peek at an ex-boyfriend of our girl whom Kane doesn't like at all.
The ending of THE PARTY IS OVER--and don't worry, this is not the final Lilah love book!--will have you completely shocked. Most of this book is Lilah's POV but the last chapter is Kane's and that might give you a hint at what is happening. But then again, Ms. Jones knows how to pull things out of nowhere just to make her fans shriek, "What! How!?"
