SURRENDERING TO HUNT makes one think of the phrase don't judge a book by the cover. The first impression is interesting, and Jennifer Ryan is going to teach us all a valuable lesson. Part of the Wyoming Wilde series, so all Wilde fans are going to be very happy.

Hunt and Cyn are like two ends of a magnet. They deflect each other while harboring an intense attraction that neither would admit. Hunt Wilde is the local policeman who keeps giving Cyn speeding tickets. Perhaps that is why she glares at him whenever they are together. Or perhaps not. That is the joy of meeting characters conceived by Jennifer Ryan and why SURRENDERING TO HUNT is just plain delightful.

And yet SURRENDERING TO HUNT is about domestic abuse, which is difficult to read about, probably because it is more prevalent than we would like to admit.

Cyn's sister Angela's boyfriend Rad uses her as his private punching bag. Of course, he rapidly apologizes each time, she then forgives him until the next time. Cyn is tired of seeing her sister bruised and lacking self-confidence. All Cyn wants is for Angela to extricate herself from this relationship. But that is the frustrating part.

Hunt has been called to Rad's house for domestic issues. His hands are tied if Angela won't press charges. And now Hunt finds Cyn placing herself between her sister and Rad. That is making this personal. As much as Hunt can't understand why Cyn gives him the cold shoulder, he is finding it more difficult to keep his distance. There is just something about this sassy, purple-haired beautician that has gotten under his skin. And Hunt has thick skin. This is why these two make a great, unexpected team.

Rad and Hunt used to be good friends. Hunt didn't recognize the angry bully Rad had become. As a lawman Hunt begins to see these qualities in his old friend and tries on several occasions to get him to stop. He knew that Angela and Rads' relationship was toxic. But without her statement, his hands were tied. Until he witnessed how far Rad would go.

There was no way to ignore the threats that Rad now voiced right in front of Hunt, while he used their friendship as a ploy for understanding. Hunt would never understand or ignore bullying or abuse. And now unfortunately Cyn has made herself a target. Cyn's reaction to Hunt goes beyond her traffic tickets. She can't understand why he can't or won't help Angela. This has become her mission and it has made her a target.

SURRENDERING TO HUNT isn't about surrendering to fear, it is about standing up to it. There are moments in this Jennifer Ryan story that will make you very sad. But once again Jennifer Ryan delves deep into a devastating problem and does not sugarcoat the issue. SURRENDERING TO HUNT is done with heart and care making it an important story to read.

SUMMARY

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Ryan returns to the Wyoming Wilde series as a by-the-book lawman tangles with a stubborn young woman. Perfect for fans of authors like Maisey Yates, Joanne Kennedy and Carolyn Brown as well as Diana Palmer, Linda Lael Miller, and BJ Daniels.

They’re tough, tenacious, and sometimes tormented; they’re the Wildes of Wyoming, three brothers whose family ties are as strong as their wills.

The last thing lawman Hunt Wilde ever dreamed he’d do was fall hard for a purple-haired troublemaker like Cyn, who seems to be on the wrong side of everything. After all, Hunt Wilde believes in law and order, while Cyn is somehow mixed up with a criminal like Rad…the man who was once Hunt’s best friend and who is now his sworn enemy.

Then Hunt discovers Cyn held hostage during a raid on Rad’s hideaway, making him question where her loyalties actually lie. But Cyn knows she needs to hide her true motivations, or she’ll never be able to exact revenge on the man who took her sister’s life and turned her own existence upside down.

Still, neither can deny the overpowering attraction simmering between them, or the way fate keeps throwing them together. And when Hunt discovers the truth, revealing her secrets and putting her life in danger, Hunt becomes ever-more determined to take down the man who would take Cyn out of Hunt’s life forever.
