Given Dr. Victoria “Tori” Sampson’s family’s history with the DEA, Deck is the last person she wants to be working with, but Tori feels like she needs to do more to help fight this new drug causing mass overdoses. Being around Deck is playing havoc with her emotions. As much as she wants to hate him because of who he works for, she’s having a hard time remembering why she should stay away when he’s around. The longer they work together, the bigger a target they become. With more than one attempt on their lives, Deck and Tori are going to have to figure out who the mystery supplier is before they both end up dead.
TOUGH JUSTICE is the first book in the spin off series from Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series, and pulls you into the story from the get-go. With a topic that seems like it’s ripped from the headlines, the heartbreaking start sets up the story perfectly. O’Fallon deftly shows off her years of experience as a federal agent, dropping plenty of red herrings that’ll take you down the wrong path. As fun as it is reading about Tori and Deck tiptoeing around each other, the real hero of this story is Deck’s Belgian Malinois K-9 partner. Thor steals all the scenes he’s in, right up to the nail-biting finale. TOUGH JUSTICE is an intriguing, exciting, nerve-wracking romantic suspense that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat as you flip the pages well into the night.
