Thriller Serial Killer | Romance Suspense

FDLE special agent Amy Larson and FBI agent Hunter Forrest took some time off to unwind and get better acquainted. Their respite comes to a screeching halt when they find a tiny red horse. It’s the second horse of the Apocalypse - representing war. Amy and Hunter must act fast before someone using this symbol has the world seeing a CRIMSON SUMMER.

They return from the Bahamas to find that there was a gang massacre in the everglades - no witnesses but a boat touring the glades sees the aftermath. Gang members were killed by arrows and axes and hoping that either the native American's or the other gang will be blamed causing more violence. This is the beginning of a twisted mystery that they must solve before more people die.

CRIMSON SUMMER begins where DANGER IN NUMBERS ends - with the idyllic getaway ending with a little red horse. Amy finds another one in the mess that is the massacred gang members and knows it is all played out for whatever end this crazed person or people want. Hunter understands the criminal mind, having dealt with evil as a young boy when his parents got involved in what they thought was communal living - but in truth - a cult. While trying to piece together what will happen next, they go to the bad guys from the past case and try to protect the people in the boat after an altercation endangers one of them. Could it be that some of those tourists are part of the insanity that takes hold of several people?

Author Heather Graham knows how to scare her readers (in a good way), then put them at ease as she weaves a path that is always twisted and turning - to the often-surprising finale. This is one of the few mysteries that I was constantly guessing who the red horse is and found myself re-reading just to see what clues I missed, and they are there - so read carefully. As always, the way Ms. Graham writes will take you to the various sites CRIMSON SUMMER takes place in, as you actually feel you know exactly where you are. I did find the crime scenes to be rather gritty but it all fits well in the scenario that is this evil plan.

If you want a fascinating mystery with a couple still getting to know one another, this is it. This story gives the sweet romantic touch this book needs with some interesting procedural information, danger, intrigue, and characters who will bedevil you. Get your hands on CRIMSON SUMMER!

SUMMARY

They're not going down without a fight.

When FDLE special agent Amy Larson discovers a small horse figurine amid the bloody aftermath of a gang massacre in the Everglades, she recognizes it immediately. The toy is the calling card of the apocalypse cult that Amy and her partner, FBI special agent Hunter Forrest, have been investigating, and it can only mean one thing: this wasn’t an isolated skirmish—it was the beginning of a war.

As tensions between rival gangs rise, so does the body count, and Amy and Hunter’s investigation leads them to a violent, far-right extremist group who are in no hurry to quell the civil unrest. With a deadly puppet master working to silence their every lead, it’s a race against the clock to figure out who’s been pulling the strings and put a stop to the escalating cartel turf war before the Everglades run red.
