Emotionally heart-wrenchng, passionate, and intriguing are words that easily come to mind with any number of author Lisa Renee Jones' offerings but they are exactly what you find in WHEN I SAY YES.
Dash and Allie start up again just where BECAUSE I CAN left off with Allie an emotional mess and Dash doing his best at being an idiot. Needless to say, that doesn't last long and soon the couple begin their climb back to being together.
It is the secret of the missing Allison and the meaning of the necklace that brought Allie to where she is - still very much a mystery. There is nothing more that can be said about this, as the answer will blow the reader completely away. It does come from out of nowhere, but suffice to say - there is closure for everyone, including Tyler Hawk.
But before the mystery is finally solved, there is a lot of emotional play that might have you feeling sorry for them, angry with them, or just plain dumbfounded at the lack of communication between them. But you must remember that both of them have demons, and those demons have to be faced and overcome before they are free to believe in love and find acceptance.
There are a few cameo appearances from the Walker Security fan favorites adding to the suspense and intrigue as well as the overall mystery. Some of the emotion also comes from family members - mostly good from her mother and his sister - not so much from the fathers. There are also the added interesting touches by Allie's boss. Not Tyler - but her real boss- who is brusque but knows how to deal with people to make them work for him. Then there was his mother, whom Allie had nicknamed Queen, for her regal yet warm attitude and strength. She's also fighting cancer, as was Allie's mother, who had her back in every way she could. Both of these people give you more insight to Allie's strength as we see her deal with everything and know at least they have her back.
WHEN I SAY YES is the finale that all of Ms. Jones' fans are expecting, though I don't think anyone could possibly have seen the way the mystery was solved. Or that Dash's character for his books would, or could, come to life. I cannot wait for the next offering from our favorite cliffhanging author and hope to see a bit more of Dash and Allie in their happily ever after that they so deserve.
I believe that there is one person in this world that can both break us and make us whole. One person who can love us more than life can hurt us. With this comes deep, intense passion, and a burning connection. But in turn, that person can destroy us, cut us, make us bleed in ways no other ever could. They have power over us.
For me, that one person is Dash Black.
He walked into my life in a rush of sunshine, in the darkness of heartache and uncertainty. We were broken apart, and whole together. He healed me. I believed I did the same for him. Until the past became the present, and every moment of suffering in his life consumed him. Instead of seeking refuge in me, he pushed me away. As the famous quote from an unknown author says, “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours; if it doesn’t, it never was.”
I've set Dash Black free. Now, I wait.
When I Say Yes is the third and final book in the Necklace Trilogy.
