ELECTRIC IDOL is set in a highly modernized retold version of Greek mythology - where the city of Olympus is ruled by the 13 prominent members. Aphrodite, one of the 13, is jealous of Demeter, also of the ruling class, and always has been. Aphrodite is the official matchmaker for Olympus and she is going to pick the future bride for the new Zeus - not Demeter.
Psyche is all right with not marrying Zeus. She doesn't fit in the power drive that seems to push everyone. For safety, she has always tried to stay under the radar, but fate has a way of throwing one under the proverbial bus. Unexpectedly, she finds herself drawn to Eros, Aphrodite's son. Though she has known him forever, this night something clicks. She helps him out of a jam, then finds herself all over the internet in what looks like a romantic moment.
Eros should have seen it coming that his mother would flip - she flipped so easily lately - but he didn't see her putting out a hit on Psyche and expect him to do it. He might have been raised to take care of her problems, but this time he isn't about to do the job. Confused by the pull he feels toward the young woman who is intelligent and good, he devises a plan to save her. The only way he can protect Psyche is to marry her - no way would one of the 13 harm a family member. Or maybe they would.
ELECTRIC IDOL is a fascinating, fun, steamy read that puts you in a world that is based on mythology but modernized and even more deceptive than you can imagine. Psyche and Eros will remind readers of "Beauty and the Beast" as he thinks of her as the beauty who helped tame the beast in him. He is even ready to do whatever he must to protect his wife from his mother - something that Psyche just can't allow and comes up with a modern and very good plan of her own. Psyche is a plus-size woman in comparison to the others, but isn't unhappy with herself, just never expected to be considered by anyone to be beautiful. Eros sees her as just perfect. Killer or not - he is a keeper.
This rather vicious world also has a number of warm, funny moments like the antics during a family dinner at the Dimitriou household where Hades and Eros watch the woman, chat, cook, and dance around one another with ease leaving them amazed at the warm chaos. Then wisely they decide to do the dishes so the women can talk more. Good men.
ELECTRIC IDOL is a fun read that will have your heart in your throat a couple of times and when it ends you will want to start all over.
