Fans of author Keri Arthur who have been following faithfully the Lizzie Grace series know that Lizzie and Belle had moved to the Faelan Werewolf Reservation in hopes of a new start, and is explored much more in BROKEN BONDS. At first, they find that the werewolves there don't care much for witches and there is a wellspring of wild magic running amuck. Oh yes, and there is the sexy ranger Aiden O'Connor who comes around to liking witches just fine, but even Lizzie knows there is no future with him. He will be the pack leader someday and must mate another werewolf.
With that bit of background, you can see there are a number of things working against them. Even Mia, who had once been engaged to Aiden, returns to take her man back with the complete approval of the pack leader, who is also Aiden's mother. But with the wellspring of magic that had long been wild, evil keeps finding its way into the reservation. Lizzie, Belle, Monty (who is finally happy with Belle), Ashworth, and Eli all get involved with the evil and are emotional support for Lizzie.
The effect of the wild magic on Lizzie is still manifesting strange reactions to her physically and with her own magical ability. Katie, the spirit of Aiden's sister who along with her dead husband, Gabe, are the keepers of a particular wellspring of magic, also uses her to save her brother Dillon who was badly injured. The evil must be stopped and the witches all work together to do just that.
To top all else off Lizzie must deal with her father's trial and her late "husband's" estate, which she could care less about but in light of the world she finds herself in a trip to Canberra might just be what her heart needs.
There is little more I can say that would not be considered spoilers, but I think readers will come to see the writing on the wall in BROKEN BONDS. I, for one, cannot see how Keri Arthur can possibly give Lizzie her much earned HEA! I must have faith and wait for the next Lizzie Grace book...
Lizzie Grace is doing her utmost to ignore the portents of doom, wanting nothing more than enjoy her life and her time with Aiden O'Connor while she still can. But the song of the once unprotected and very powerful wellspring still washes across the distant shores of darkness, and it continues to draw evil to the reservation.
The one that arrives this time is different from the others. Not only is it skilled in magic, but its kills are very specific. Very targeted. As the brutal deaths mount up and she, Monty, and Aiden struggle to find answers and stop the killings, Lizzie begins to suspect there's more to this particular evil than meets the eye.
Especially when it helps save the life of a child.
But the biggest threat to Lizzie comes not in the form of evil, but rather the changes whispered on the wind.
Because the werewolf Aiden once asked to be his wife has finally arrived back in the reservation.
