JINGLE BELL WOLF is the second book in Terry Spear’s “Wolff Brothers” series that’s set in the werewolf-run Silver Town. I always enjoy a literary sojourn in the idyllic wolf shifter-run Silver Town. The town is quaint, the locals are fun-loving, and the romance is palpable. In this series, the romance is usually center stage, and that is especially true in JINGLE BELL WOLF. Gabrielle Lowe, veterinarian and wolf shifter, is vacationing in Silver Town and waiting for her two jaguar shifter girlfriends to catch up to her. This was supposed to be a girls trip, but Gabrielle winds up deserted by her buddies and cozied up to and entertained by the very charming Landon Wolff – also a wolf shifter, and co-owner of the local ski lodge. It doesn’t take long for Landon to be smitten and the entire town, made up of family, friends, and well-wishing neighbors, commit to helping entice Gabrielle to stay.
Unlike a few of the previous books in this series, JINGLE BELL WOLF is more of a classic rom-com or Hallmark movie, without a whiff of danger or suspense. Either you enjoy that, or you don’t. I prefer stories that are more relationship-centered – especially if they have a holiday theme. Unbeknownst to Gabrielle, her two friends have played cupid by orchestrating the entire trip to Silver Town. The hope is that Gabrielle will open herself to the possibility of love and get to bond with other wolf shifters like herself. Although the pack leaders have been clued in, Landon and his family are blissfully unaware, and Landon falls for Gabrielle almost instantly. I like an emotionally vulnerable and honest guy, and Landon is totally that guy. Although Landon is steadfast in his pursuit of Gabrielle, he is not aggressive or obnoxious. He woos her with natural charm, emotional support, by being an entertaining companion while participating in fun winter holiday festivities, and plenty of heated glances over cups of hot cocoa. As their relationship progresses, things get hot and heavy as the emotional bond grows.
JINGLE BELL WOLF is A Christmas-themed bit of brain candy for paranormal romance fans. As a fan of the series, I enjoyed seeing familiar characters join in without cluttering up the narrative. I can’t wait to read future books about unmated Wolff family members! I look forward to Terry Spear’s next book.
