Romance | Romance Suspense | Romance Military

Lyosha Vasiliev, a member of Red Stone Security, met Mila when he took a little stray cat to the shelter where she volunteers. He "accidentally" left some paperwork at the shelter. He's not so sure why he did it, but Mila has been on his mind from the moment he laid eyes on her. A man in his position has enemies from his past and a dangerous foe that will put anyone he falls for in danger.

Mila cannot get Lyosha out of her mind and marks it down to the fact that she had been so bent on getting her degree without a lot of debt, that she didn't have time to date. So maybe the tatted, gorgeous man was just her hormones going crazy. He admits he purposely left the paperwork so she would call, so that's a good sign, right? So why has he dumped them in a friends-only zone?

SECRET ENEMY is a fast-paced, hold-your-breath, here-it-comes book! Author Katie Reus does bad boys doing good as few other authors can. The camaraderie of the men, the realistic conversations, the battle of trying to keep things on the friendship level all make for a fantastic read.

Lyosha is a contradiction when it comes to Mila, He is very attracted to her, from the moment he laid eyes on her but he fears his past makes him not good enough. There are a number of times that he puts Mila into a spin because he wants to be friends, he wants to make love to her but he also wants to stay aloof. A very confusing man when Mila's heart is already his if he wants it. Unfortunately, danger comes her way and, of course, Lyosha is sure it is his fault, and he feels guilty because he pretty much forced her into danger's path. Mila is much more forgiving than the average woman might be in the circumstances, especially when she hears part of a conversation, and is positive that when things clear up she is going to have to send Lyosha away. We don't get a lot of background on this man but we can put together that he had a crap childhood and has not always done the straight and narrow, but he is now on the right road with good friends but that past still plays havoc on his thoughts. He wants only to protect her - even from himself - but when her life is really on the line and he almost loses her permanently, then his heart and brain get in the same gear.

You will have to read SECRET ENEMY to find out all the details - and maybe there is more than one danger coming her way... Action, danger, intrigue, men who are not always bright but very protective, and a woman who knows what she wants and keeps her head clear when she needs it.

SUMMARY

Return to the USA Today bestselling Red Stone Security series!

He thinks she’s out of his league.

Lyosha Vasiliev met Mila by chance, and now she’s all he thinks about. But the two couldn’t be more different, so Lyosha won’t go there. As a security expert, he skirts the law on the regular. Unlike Mila, the newest employee at Red Stone Security, who spends her free time volunteering at an animal shelter. Despite his determination to stay away from her, when it becomes clear his past has come back to haunt him—and poses a threat to her—Lyosha immediately steps in. And he’ll cross any line to keep her safe.

But he can’t seem to walk away.

Mila met Lyosha when he brought in a half-starved stray cat to the shelter she volunteers at. He tries to act tough—and okay, he is. He should be the last man she wants, but she loves his sexy tattoos, gruff demeanor, and that he has a marshmallow inside that only she gets to see. When someone threatens her, he’s convinced it’s linked to his past. He’s made it clear that he’ll protect her with his life—but he won’t give her his heart. Not when he blames himself for bringing danger to her doorstep. Except Mila isn’t the kind of woman who walks away from what she wants. And Lyosha finds himself unwilling to let her go without a fight.
