I am candidly overjoyed each time I discover a new book by Brenda Novak. I have been known to go back and read an old favorite especially in one of her series. Brenda Novak has a way with character development no matter the genre. So when I found WHEN I FOUND YOU it was kismet. WHEN I FOUND YOU is book number eight in the Silver Springs series. Not to worry they read well separately, as a series and even out of order. I know this from experience. I should take this time to mention that I’ve read and reviewed each and every one of the Silver Springs books and adored them all thanks to the amazing characters that fill each page with absolute joy.
So back to WHEN I FOUND YOU. When Natasha Grey moves back to Silver Springs with her young son Lucas it was a difficult decision but one made out of necessity. Natasha’s career as a pediatrician had come to an abrupt end due to a tragic death of one of her little patients. Devastated by the events that unfolded Natasha needed to move somewhere so that she wasn’t continually faced with knowing glances. And unfortunately, as her career unraveled so did her marriage. Truth be told her marriage had already been rocky. The loss of her practice just gave her the impetus to face some brutal facts. Marriage to Ace had been one of needing more than love and as the years went on Ace had become more of a burden than a partner or helpmate. The only remaining tie was their son Lucas.
So now getting back to Silver Springs was going to be a challenge. Natasha is practically penniless but luckily finds a nursing job at the Horizon School for Boys and Girls. Working there will help her get back on her feet financially and emotionally. But in order to make the move, it meant involving the Amos brothers. Natasha has a long history with the Amos brothers who had taken her under their collective wings when her mother and their father became a couple. That match eventually faded but the relationship between the brothers and Natasha stayed strong. With one notable exception, Mack Amos.
Teenage crushes are rather a normal fare but Natasha has loved Mack most of her life. He was the love of her life. Unfortunately, it seemed as if he could only see her as a younger sister. But their lives had crossed over several years and now back in Silver Springs Mack seems to be intent on becoming a more important part of Natasha’s life especially with Lucas.
WHEN I FOUND YOU isn’t really about finding that someone – it is more about reconnecting with someone who truly completes you, body and soul. That is Natasha and Mack. They are two puzzle pieces that have worked at keeping their distance but the time has finally come where these two remarkable folks might have a chance at acknowledging their destiny together. WHEN I FOUND YOU is filled with the angst, love, friendship, strength, compassion that earmarks all of Brenda Novak's stories. As you move from one Brenda Novak book to another you bring along a whole bunch of new found friends. WHEN I FOUND YOU is sure to be a fan favorite. .
