Jeffries is a very engaging writer with a bit of a tongue in cheek style that I enjoy when reading her books. I particularly like how Jefferies develops her plots and realistically describes various scenes and the characters involved so that I just have to keep turning the pages late into the night to find out what happens next. Aside from Vanessa’s clever maneuvers to get Sheridan right where she wants him, I thoroughly relished the family scenes nicely balanced between family bickering and bantering to how they pull together to find out the truth.
Personally, I found UNDERCOVER DUKE to be an amusing and intriguing romance on its own; however, it might be a richer story if the earlier books were read first. Given that, I am now looking forward to reading the first three stories as they cover how the other half brothers found their lovely and intelligent brides as well as giving move insights into their investigative encounters.
Best of all, I am looking forward to the release of Jefferies' upcoming Christmas novella, entitled “When We Finally Kiss Good-night”.
