Detective Taylor McKennitt wouldn't have gone near Dr. Claire Hunter if he didn't have to. After a night of passion, she'd dumped him and moved on, avoiding him, leaving him aching for something he apparently wasn't going to get again.
But now it looks as if Claire and her Aunt Sadie may be in danger from, of all things, Sadie's mortician boyfriend. Avoiding Claire is no longer an option.
Claire wants to settle down with a nice, stable man, everything that Taylor isn't. Oh, sure, he's gorgeous, sexy, fun, sexy, a great guy to spend time with, sexy...but he wouldn't be good for the long-term. She just knows it. And being forced to spend more time with him won't change her mind.
Um-hmmm. We'll see about that. As the situation becomes more threatening, it's clear that Claire may have issues with Taylor, but he's reliable and protective.
I really like Ms. Stillings' books for a light, romantic read. I mean, how bad could a book be with the title SIGHS MATTER? I love her clever titles (she also brought us THE DAMSEL IN THIS DRESS and MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD & EVIE), but I also enjoy her strong, likable characters and good dialogue. It was nice to catch up with Soldier, Taylor's brother, too.
It was a night of slow dances, heated looks, and for
detective Taylor McKennitt, the Earth moved.
Unfortunately, so did the lovely Claire . . .
. . . right on out the door. Not that it wasn't the
hottest night of her life. In fact, the memory of Taylor's
kisses, his touch, his . . . everything makes Claire want
to leap right back into the sexy detective's bed. But the
last thing she needs is to fall in love with a man in
blue, even if he is irresistible. And determined.
Then just when Taylor thinks he's close to getting her
back into his life, a deranged killer targets Claire. Now
it's Taylor's duty to protect her. And in the process,
he'll win her resisting heart or die trying -- which is
suddenly a very distinct possibility.
