Fantasy Urban | Romance Paranormal | Romance Holiday

If you are expecting the usual warm fuzzies from another Christmas read get ready for something really different. A WARM HEART IN WINTER is A Caldwell Christmas in the world of the Black Dagger Brothers. Fans know that this vampire brotherhood does things just a bit different from anyone, including their own kind. The storyline features Blay and Qhuinn, who are a fan-favorite couple, but haven't quite gotten to the mated part of their romance. And it seems the fates may just be working against them.

However, to say A WARM HEART IN WINTER is just Blay and Qhuinn's story is very simplistic and author J.R. Ward does not do simple in any way, shape, or form. You will have to add in a number of unexpected scenarios, heartbreak, tears, and laughter and then you might have an idea of the complexity of this story.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the things happening in these pages: a human girl gets into an accident and that girl's story is intermixed with the BDB because there is a surprise connection. A nasty storm tries to blow away the mansion they all share and together they must deal with the freezing cold to make sure everyone inside is safe, bringing about a couple of near-deadly accidents. A tragedy befalls one of the boys and for awhile it doesn't look good for the future but as usual, the brothers aren't going to let another brother get lost in grief. The young bring laughter and sighs, sweetening up the tough vibe the BDB is known for. The human Christmas holiday traditions find their way into this world, with a tree and decorations which excites the doggans (servants), as they now have more things to deal with, which they couldn't be any more thrilled with.

There are also a number of moments that Qhuinn has to deal with his past, which was, to say the least, not a Hallmark world. Will the household up, the tragedy worked through, Christmas be celebrated and most of all will Blay and Qhuinn finally take that step and become mated officially? You will have to read A WARM HEART IN WINTER to find out. You also just might want to keep the tissues handy for as with all holiday reads this one will get your straight in the heart.
