BLACKBIRD BROKEN follows closely to the ending of the first book, Blackbird Rising, of The Witch King’s Crown series by author Keri Arthur. Gwen and her grandmother Moscelyne are the last of the De Montfort women who protected the sword in the stone, but the sword has been removed and the danger to the world has begun. The new Witch King just might be in league with the Darkside with plans to restore the witches to rule not just England but perhaps the whole world.
With the chosen heirs to the sword being assassinated and artifacts that would shore the new kings rule being searched for, Gwen and her grandmother race to get there first, with the reluctant help of the enigmatic Blackbird Luc Durant, the cycle riding member of an ancient order of knights. Luc isn't reluctant to help protect the world, he is fighting the attraction between himself and Gwen.
BLACKBIRD BROKEN will have you on the edge of your seat. A number of times, while reading I found myself actually holding onto the arm of my chair as I felt as if I were right in the middle of the action. That is author Keri Arthur's amazing ability, even with paranormal worlds, they feel real and as if you are in the heart of it all.
Gwen is amazing as is her grandmother, they are tough women who face their duties and bear the heartbreak with quiet strength. With Blackbird Rising we were introduced to the family and friends and in BLACKBIRD BROKEN we learn more about Gwen and her abilities. Luc was reluctant to get involved with her, though the attraction is off the charts but he has backed her up in every way he can. He has promised that they would, if they survive, find out what is between them. He has even been by her side on the occasions when she has been knocked out by her own burgeoning magical abilities, but you will have to read BLACKBIRD BROKEN to find out more about those abilities.
BLACKBIRD BROKEN will have your heart in your throat from the beginning to the end. And when you come to the last word I guarantee you will want more!
On the darkest day, in the darkest hour, when all hope has been extinguished, a hand will draw the one true sword, and a lost throne shall be reclaimed...
Generations of De Montfort women have protected the sword in the stone. Gwen is the last of them, following in the footsteps of her grandmother, Moscelyne.
But the sword has now been drawn, and the new Witch King may well be working with Darkside.
Now the race is on to find the missing artifacts that will stop the king accessing the full power of the sword. But as the attacks escalate and the fractured clues of history are slowly pieced together, Gwen, Mo, and Luc Durant-the motorbike-riding warrior from an ancient order of knights-quickly realize all is not as it seems. Worse still, the true source of the plot to unleash Darkside and restore witch rule is far closer to home than any had guessed.
But as new prophecies rise, and the truth of the sword in the stone becomes clear, another race begins.
One that will end with a crown, a throne, and the fate of all England as its prize.
