Romance Suspense | Suspense

Bailey Rhoads is on the hunt for a story, but she never expected to find one like this! A woman has been murdered, but Bailey suspects there is more to the story than what the public information officer will share. Homicide detective, Jacob Merritt, isn’t any more forthcoming initially but Bailey is determined to get through his hard shell. What will Bailey and Jacob uncover when they finally work together to solve the murder?

I love Laura Griffin’s strong female heroines! Bailey is strong, determined, and willing to seek out the truth, no matter how confusing the facts seem initially. She doesn’t give up chasing a story lead or trying to soften Jacob up as she seeks out the truth behind a murder that has all the earmarks of a professional hit. I also love that Laura Griffin’s heroines are intelligent and not just a side partner for the hero. Instead, we see Jacob and Bailey learn to work together, both learning to adjust to the strengths of each other. I also thoroughly appreciate that Bailey and Jacob are both constantly aware of and respectful of their own professional ethics and boundaries, despite the conflict it sometimes causes between them. What a beautiful example of a couple working and growing together in their relationship!

HIDDEN took some intriguing twists in the plot line as Laura Griffin keeps readers on their toes with this one. I love the hints we get about the larger picture as Bailey and Jacob slowly uncover a darker, much more sinister plot. No spoilers, but we learn how the best of intentions can go seriously awry when power is unchecked. The technology discussed in HIDDEN is fascinating, albeit more than a bit scary, and Laura Griffin does a marvelous job at keeping the details both understandable and intriguing.

HIDDEN is the first book in the Texas Murder Files series and as usual, Laura Griffin has another hit on her hands! Every story Laura Griffin writes is amazing, and HIDDEN exemplifies why she is one of my must-read authors. HIDDEN has all the elements of a phenomenal romantic suspense thriller- exceptional character development, a believable romance, and a superb and twisting plot that keeps the reader engaged and curious. Don’t miss out on this gem- grab a copy of HIDDEN now and plan to read nonstop till the last page is turned!

SUMMARY

An ambitious female reporter tracks a deadly threat in Austin, Texas, in the newest riveting thriller by New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin.

When a woman is found brutally murdered on Austin’s lakeside hike-and-bike trail, investigative reporter Bailey Rhoads turns up on the scene demanding access and answers. She tries to pry information out of the lead detective, Jacob Merritt. But this case is unlike any he’s ever seen, and nothing adds up. With the pressure building, Jacob knows the last thing he needs is a romantic entanglement, but he can’t convince himself to stay away from Bailey.

Bailey has a hunch that the victim wasn’t who she claimed to be and believes this mugging-turned-murder could have been a targeted hit. When she digs deeper, the trail leads her to a high-tech fortress on the outskirts of Austin, where researchers are pushing the boundaries of a cutting-edge technology that could be deadly in the wrong hands.

As a ruthless hit man’s mission becomes clear, Bailey and Jacob join together in a desperate search to locate the next target before the clock ticks down in this lethal game of hide-and-seek.
