Romance Suspense

Aleksei "Absinthe" Solokov, a member of Torpedo Ink, has found a woman he hopes will bring him the solace he needs so desperately. He is reluctant to take her down the DESOLATION ROAD he and his family travel until he is sure she can handle his world.

Scarlet Foley is a librarian with secrets and she has taken notice of Absinthe as he is hard to miss. He comes in sits and reads and seems to be unaware of all that happens around him. But, something tells her that is all a lie. He has hidden his true colors from her in fear of scaring her away and she has been reluctant to pull him into her world for fear of endangering him. Soon both will have no choice but to rely on each other and protect each other with every ability no matter how strange that ability might be.

DESOLATION ROAD brings fans back into author Christine Feehan's amazing world of Torpedo Ink. In this one there is a bit of a twist as Scarlet is not exactly the helpless lady that she portrays. She is a fighter who is determined never to be a victim again and has taken extraordinary steps to avoid it and also getting herself a bit of revenge.

The Torpedo Ink series is darker, grittier, and kinkier than any of Ms. Feehan's other series. In my opinion the kinky in DESOLATION ROAD really came out of nowhere--there was no warning where his desires would come from. I have to admit I did do a bit of page skimming simply because, at times, it was just too much and I thought it was just too weird to be a thing. That aside, I love this series for the camaraderie, the struggle that these people have gone through to pull themselves out of the hell they were raised in, and their ability to love others and the action.

Just a suggestion for those who have not read this series--begin by reading Bound Together (Sea Haven series) to get a good intro to the MC family, then on to the first of this series Judgment Road. It might help you with the members' names and backgrounds.

DESOLATION ROAD is filled with love, romance, family (though maybe not stereotypical, but family nonetheless), action, danger, twists and turns that will have you flipping the pages with eagerness and sometimes with your heart in your throat. Another amazing read Ms. Feehan!

Torpedo Ink is Aleksei “Absinthe” Solokov’s whole life. They’re his brothers, his family—his everything. But that doesn't stop him from wanting something that only belongs to him. That’s why the tough biker has spent the last six weeks at the library, reading every book he can get his hands on and watching the prim and proper librarian who makes his blood rush.

For the past six weeks, Scarlet Foley has been fantasizing about the handsome, tattooed man whose eyes follow her every move. She senses he's dangerous. She wants him to get close enough to touch. She wishes she could let him know the real woman, not the one she pretends to be. But Scarlet has a plan to carry out, and she can’t afford any distractions.

Absinthe is well aware that Scarlet is hiding something. She’s a puzzle he intends to solve, piece by intoxicating piece….
