THE PERSUASION is amazing! What other word can you use for a book that pulls you into the world until you can almost see, hear, and feel everything all these amazing characters do, say, and go through? As a fan, I had long wondered what Jane was going to do about Seth Caleb and now I know.
Jane still seems wary of love even that of her adopted parents, her brother, and certainly doesn't trust it when it comes to Caleb. His past does make one understand his need to be in control at all times and explains why he finds himself pulling back, but never quite letting go of Jane. All of this makes for a very intriguing romance between them. Her brother, Michael, is a very fascinating young man. It's hard to call him a boy as he has a psychic ability, sensing danger and knowing things that usually come to be true. The love he has for his sister is sweet and very endearing and, of course, it is his safety that she is willing to endure Caleb being around. Well, that is not really the truth, but that is her excuse.
Watching this couple dance around each other will bring out a variety of emotions in readers, and I think that might have been Iris Johansen's plan. You might get angry with both or one of them, you might want to laugh or cry, but you cannot stop reading until you get to the end and find out what happens. The danger is realistic and somewhat gory at times, but this couple knows how to back each other up and work together (thought sometimes with separate plans) to find the answers.
If you love a mystery that will hold your interest in bloody hands; a strong tie between a couple who aren't sure what to do with each other but can't let go; danger, drama, and intrigue then you have to get your hands on THE PERSUASION. You will want to be sure to set aside some time for this read because it will not let you put it down for any reason.
