Romance Suspense | Inspirational Mystery

In Logar Province, Afghanistan, Sargeant First Class Asher James receives a shocking order from his commander, Captain Phillip Newell. "Bring Isaiah Michaels in immediately." A friend and good soldier, Asher questions his superior. Why? "Michaels is a traitor and has been selling vital information to the jihadists." Stunned and unbelieving, Asher informs Captain Newell that he does not believe that. "I have proof. Leave at once and pick him up at The Bistro." The Bistro is a popular hangout for the stationed troops because they serve decent food. Having no other choice, Asher leaves to follow his orders. Almost there, bombs explode wiping out the vehicle in front of Asher and The Bistro is in flames. Battling the raging flames, he sees Michael being tended by the pretty military psychiatrist he has a crush on. Brooke Adams is unconscious when he reaches her and Isaiah Michaels is dead. He carries Brooke to safety and her fight to recover from her burns and return home to America.

Brooke Adams has been on assignment in Afghanistan and is near her breaking point. She is counting the days until she can return home. Her burns severe, she spends a few months recovering before returning to South Carolina. There fighting her traumas, she picks up the pieces and starts her new life and private practice. One firm rule must be followed to endure. She will not treat any veterans from the Afghan war. Too painful. Too many sad memories. She is also holding onto a secret. Before Isaiah Michaels died in her arms, he gave her a bracelet and begged her to bring it to his wife, Miranda, and to promise to tell her he is not a traitor. A promise made she must keep it. Will she be safe?

Also back in the same area as Brooke, Asher is having a difficult time with his own nightmares and decides to seek out Brooke for help. When he arrives at her office, he does not find Brooke. He finds a dead body. He discovers there have been threats to Brooke's life and he decides to help her. The action starts and never stops until the finale. A story of sensitive subjects such as illegal adoptions and organ trafficking for children from an Afghan orphanage for profit, led by an evil, greedy, complex man in a complex plot that is filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing who? A few sub-plots, a lot of questionable characters who will keep you sharp and on track to uncover the villains.

Lynette Eason writes an action-packed story filled with danger, corruption, murder, lies woven with a spiritual thread that touches on family, friendships, loyalty, and faith. COLLATERAL DAMAGE is the first in her DANGER NEVER SLEEPS series. If you like bombs, blood, military life and plots filled with mystery and real-life problems, let's get ready for her next one. Great job on this one. I am ready.

SUMMARY

Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others--but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way--terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.

Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there--but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.

When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack--and that her secrets go even deeper than his own--Asher vows to protect her no matter what.

Bestselling author Lynette Eason is back with a new series that spans the globe and
will have your heart working overtime.
