When the Wolff brothers moved into the outskirts of Silver Town to open a ski lodge, they were thrilled to be living in a wolf-controlled area. The peaceful life they planned with others of their kind changes with the entry of one of their guests. Blake Wolff, one of the brothers and owners of the lodge, finds himself kissed within an inch of his life by a stranger and wants nothing more than that moment to go on and become much more.
Nicole Grayson, is a gray wolf shifter and private investigator on the trail of a criminal who shouldn't be alive ... as his friend received his insurance payout. He's also someone from her past and that he is also connected to the Wolff Family. Her investigation becomes tangled up with a sick partner who has to be hospitalized, the original P.I. suddenly making a comeback and demanding to know what she knows (a wolf with a ego way too big) and most especially her growing attraction to Blake and his amazing family. She has to navigate all of this and find a way to nab the bad guy, keep her heart intact or maybe lose it completely.
YOU HAD ME AT WOLF did just that - it had me. I am a fan of author Terry Spear and haven't read anything from her that is a downer. Her stories are always upbeat, family-oriented (the family might be a pack of shifters but it's family), with a romance that will leave you sighing and fanning yourself.
Nicole Grayson is a kick-butt heroine, who knows she is good at her job and even though in the military one particular case disheartened her. She knew the guy was guilty but there was nothing but her wolf senses that proved it. One thing about the past is that sometimes you get a chance to right a wrong and this does just that for her and one of the Wolff sisters, who was the threatened party earlier in her career. This time she nails the bad guy and she gets her very own hero.
Blake is the perfect mate for Nicole as he supports her in her work and though he is afraid for her he trusts her judgment. He is also very good at convincing her that staying with him would be a good thing. The other Wolff members are an amazing family, their spirit and playfulness added to the delight of this book. Some of Ms. Spears descriptions of the land, hotel, and people might make a non-skier want to give it a try. Of course, she then put in the avalanche with the search and rescue and convinced me that sitting and reading is much safer and warmer.
YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is the perfect, upbeat escape that gives you a lot of action, intrigue, sweet romance, steamy moments, danger, family (pack) bonding and togetherness and getting the bad guys behind bars. Another winner for this author!
