Romance Military | Romance Billionaire

Evan Bishop had the world in the palm of his hand. A once in a lifetime business deal about to go off perfectly, an amazing fiancee, a great family. Then it all explodes, quite literally in his face. An unknown enemy tried to kill him, but the bomb left him in a coma and scarred up and his whole world in chaos. The love of his life, his very own BISHOP'S QUEEN, tries to support him, but he turns her away, hiding the monster he has become. It is after all his fault her father died in the explosion, if it weren't for him and his enemy, the man would still be alive. How can he expect Isla McDonald to forgive him when he can't forgive himself.

Isla is devastated by his defection. How could he blame himself? She doesn't. She blames the person who planted the bomb. She tries to take the reins from her father and complete the deals he had made before his death. She hates the idea, as it has never been her plan to take over, but to honor him, and to move on, and she does what has to be done. Little does she know that the only thing that will bring Evan back to her is the danger that is coming her way.

BISHOP'S QUEEN is the second of the Endgame trilogy by the remarkable Katie Reus. It follows close with the ending of Bishop's Knight with Isla being banned from Evan's life. I loved Bishop's Knight but I think BISHOP'S QUEEN is even better. Evan, might come off as a jerk, but if you add up his feelings of guilt, how his face is scarred up, then you can kind of understand his withdrawal of everyone around him, especially his beautiful fiancee. Isla is beautiful, inside and out, and a person's appearance is not something she dwells on and her love for him isn't going to change because of scars. It is the danger to Isla that wakes up Evan. After she is mugged, he comes running despite the fact that her company has excellent security. Delving into things more deeply, they find glitches in that system, a surprise stalker, and when the danger finally comes to ahead. It is a shock to everyone who the culprit endangering her is.

BISHOP'S QUEEN is well written with an emotional storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed the way Isla wasn't about to let Evan off the hook easily, she might have given in once, but it wasn't going to be a habit. She would set the pace, and he would come back or not ... she was not going to beg as she had in the hospital.

If you want sweet, sexy, a strong heroine, a hero who needed a bit of butt-kicking, action, danger, intrigue, and have a bit of time on your hands (because you will not be able to put it down), then get BISHOP'S QUEEN and enjoy!

SUMMARY

Return to the Endgame trilogy where blood is thick, but passion is thicker…

He doesn’t believe in fairy-tale endings…

They used to call Evan Bishop the golden boy. He had it all and was about to close the business deal of a lifetime, then marry the woman of his dreams. But everything goes to hell when a faceless enemy wants to destroy his family’s empire and see him dead. Except the bomb meant to kill him fails. He wakes up from a coma to find his face scarred and his brother missing and wanted for murder. Now that he’s damaged, he hides away from the world—including the woman he loves. He refuses to be a burden to her, so even though it destroys him, he sets her free.

She’s about to prove him wrong…

Isla MacDonald isn’t walking away from Evan just because he’s decided to shut her out of his life. He blames himself for the bombing that got her father killed and nearly killed him—but he’s wrong. After all attempts to see him fail, with a broken heart she tries to resume her life and take over her father’s firm. Though it’s not her dream, she wants to honor his legacy. But when someone tries to kill her—twice—she needs a bodyguard. To her surprise Evan steps up and insists on protecting her, putting on a show as the caring fiancé. But he won’t let her back into his life or into his heart. To have any chance at a future together, they’ll have to resurrect the past and stay alive long enough to expose the man determined to see them both dead.
