Navy SEAL Jake Heath is not used to failure. He’s interested in FBI Agent Alexa “Lexie” Mays but she’s ignored all of his calls until he walks into O’Malley’s after an op and sees her waiting on him. Lexie wants Jake’s help as she needs assistance locating a known terrorist who is on American soil, but it has to be under the radar. Jake isn’t supposed to freelance and Lexie admits her current boss isn’t on board with this plan, but Jake is finding it hard to resist spending time with Lexie. Can they locate the terrorist even as sparks are igniting between the two of them?

TOTAL CONTROL is the fourth book in the Alpha Crew series but can easily be read as a standalone. Readers have met Jake and Lexie in earlier books, but Laura Griffin provides enough character development and history that it’s easy to enjoy TOTAL CONTROL if it’s your first introduction to either character. Each story in the series is only loosely connected, although I can’t imagine reading just one Laura Griffin book and not wanting to read them all!

I’ve been hoping for Lexie’s story as she’s seemingly standoffish but very professional and determined to do the right thing. I like the glimpses we get into her more rebellious side in TOTAL CONTROL. Jake is a good match for her as he’s willing to take a few chances while still getting the job done. The sparks fly hot and heavy between them, even as Lexie tries to resist him. My only complaint about TOTAL CONTROL is that the ending came too quickly as I wanted a bit more.

TOTAL CONTROL is a fast-paced tale full of intrigue and action. Laura Griffin is a master of the romantic suspense genre, generating the right touch of romance and heat with plenty of suspense and action. If you love romantic suspense jam-packed with action, then look no further than TOTAL CONTROL!
