Given a scroll by the new vampire king Chiron is led to the heart of the Everglades and a demon hotel. In that hotel, he finds the most amazing woman. One that he will learn had a lot to do with the imprisonment of his master.

Lilah had spent her life, or what she remembers of her life in the enchanted hotel with only her companion and guardian Inga a constant by her side. But memories start to come back and Lilah fears she hasn't always been a good person that the handsome Chiron thinks she is. Will she be able to sacrifice herself to make things right for the man who becomes the world to her?

DARKNESS RETURNS is fabulous! No other word will do. You have a sexy vampire, who runs casinos and clubs in the human world; a heroine who has been a little out of touch with the real world; other characters from the past Guardians of Eternity series (especially Styx and Viper) and, of course, everyone's favorite gargoyle Levet. He's sent by the king (who probably only wanted him out of his hair for a while) to help Chiron.

The mystery surrounding the hotel and Lilah is slowly brought into focus as Chiron draws closer to her, and her memories start to come back. We find later that they have been purposely hidden from her, but why and by whom? Sorry, you will have to read DARKNESS RETURNS to get all the answers.

Author Alexandra Ivy has a way with her paranormal stories that have you on the edge of your seat but ready to burst out laughing or fan yourself depending on what the action dictates. Levet always adds light moments to a story, and he is in rare form with DARKNESS RETURNS as he "helps" Chiron not only with his quest but with his love life.

If you want action, suspense, vampires, demons, witches, the romance of the steamy yet sweet variety, lies and truths, then get your hands on DARKNESS RETURNS. The ending, though not a cliffhanger per se, does leave one to wonder if there is more that needs to be said about Inga and Levet. One can only hope.
