Vittorio Ferraro is a member of a family of shadow riders. He knows his duty; his loyalty is unquestionable. He will throw himself in front of any of his family and take a bullet for them. He is the calmest, most logical of them all; he is their SHADOW WARRIOR. And what this warrior wants most is a family of his own. To find a woman with the qualifications to meet the riders' needs is nearly unachievable, but to find one that meets his needs is to his mind beyond the realm of possibilities.
Grace Murphy had grown up in the foster system, had survived some of the worst that could be put upon a child, but she still lives in fear. Her foster brother is a killer, and getting close to anyone puts that person in danger. Vittorio thwarts a kidnapping attempt, but during the ensuing fight she is shot, and she becomes his to protect. He claims her and now must see if she can deal with him.
SHADOW WARRIOR had me in its grip from the beginning to the end. It starts out with Vittorio sensing something wrong and finding his perfect match in danger. The tale moves on at an amazing pace to many other dangers and dramas.
When I read the back page blurb and saw that Vittorio worried that he would not find a woman to meet his particular needs I was a bit worried. Was he into some kind of sexual bondage? Maybe a little, but what I gleaned from it all was he needed to be in control of everything. He needed to make all the decisions in their daily life. That to say the least, is not a modern take on life but the benefits seem to work for him and Grace. And who's to nay say something that works for the both of them?
Grace is no pushover as you will see as you read and understand the hand life had dealt her. She felt the pull of the shadows even having been shot and felt the need to please him even then, but in her job, she is the boss and works her magic to make all the events she organizes come out smoothly, and everyone is happy. To say she is happy not to have to be the boss all the time seems to fit her, making her Vittorio's perfect match.
The other Ferraros are in SHADOW WARRIOR as well, and we get to watch them in action as they face several problems. It seems the Saldi crime family have been up to no good in their territory, and it is possible that they are ready to war with the Ferraros. Eloisa is her usual self, and this time I think she has really gone too far.
SHADOW WARRIOR will thrill you with its action, have you smiling with the brothers and cousins antics, feel Emmanuelle's pain, want to throw Eloisa out the door and wonder what is the Saldi family trying to do and why? In other words - a fantastic read that will leave you wanting more!
